Sore bum!

Got my mountain bike out today for the first time in 6 months and im a bit saddle sore. It is NOT comfortable sitting down, my poor little bottom is very sensitive, I'm just lucky I'm not gay.

So now I'm caught in the old upgrade enthusiasm. I get too much into the things I like and like getting all the extras & fiddly bits of useless equipment. Probably explains why I work in IT!

I got away with it before because a) I was fit and b) didn't have much else to spend my money on .But now I'm embarassingly out of breath from riding once around the block and have plenty of outgoings. I remember when I was a teenager on my cheap & cheerful Halfords bike getting annoyed by (and laughing at) fat old blokes on top notch bikes which were wasted on them. Well, I'm still not fat but otherwise I've turned into one of those people myself!

So the lesson is: only ever laugh at people than you because you know you'll never turn into them when you get older!!

The brakes are too worn and wobbly. My poor old bike can't stop very well so I can either replace them with new equivalents or upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes...nice! Unfortunately disc breaks mean new suspension forks as mine don't have mounts for discs, and since there no point replacing them with new ones that aren't at least as good (preferably better) I'm looking at nearly £500 for the forks and brakes toghether.

Like I said the bike isn't a run of the mill model!

Dammit....I want them but I can feel myself growing more sensible by the minute!

Once upon a time I would not have hesitated but now....
