Price Gouging? At the LCBO? Never! Or so I thought...

I've defended the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) several times in the past (see my post here), and I still believe that the system as it is works to a great extent (although many will disagree with me).  However, I'm finding it harder and harder to do so.  A couple of weeks or so ago, Martini wrote about his experience dealing with the LCBO ( Read more... )

Is the supply strategically "limited" in order to justify the price? That's a bit shocking.

And you raised a good point with the Talisker collection which might make a good post all on its own.

I don't think the supply is 'limited' as a means to justify the price, I think the price was set in accordance with regulations and with the required mark-up, I just don't agree with it vis-a-vis the prices of the other cask strength offerings available.

The 'Limited Supply' label gets tacked onto some inventory items where there are dozens and dozens of bottles, and yet doesn't appear on others where there are only three or four remaining in stock.
