Last night Meg and I headed across town (more like out of town, given how far we had to drive) to the
Diefenbunker to attend a screening of Dawn of the Dead (the 2004 remake, with Sarah Polley and Ving Rhames), and participate in a
Zombie Costume Contest. It was all part of the Diefenbunker's "Cold War Cinema" series, and while I am not entirely sure what zombies have to do with the Cold War, it certainly was a good excuse to get all zombied up and get out on our own!
Luckily, we weren't the only ones to come in costume, although until about five minutes before the event started, it looked like we might win by default...Meg did win the second prize, even though they've identified her on their site as the overall winner. I've embedded a photo from the Diefenbunker's Zombie PinInterest Board below, and I'll try to get some of our photos uploaded in the next couple of days:
Incidentally, it took her about two and a half hours to do the make-up job...not too bad for her first attempt at her own zombie make-up (when we were zombies at Run For Your Lives they had their own make-up people there and didn't want you to do your own).
And this was just the start of the Diefenbunker's
'Zombie Season': over the next three weekends the 'Bunker is putting on a special
"Incident at the Bunker" tour, which will also involve zombies. Meg and I already have tickets for the afternoon of the 27th, and we're pretty excited about it! The only problem is that it conflicts with the local Zombie Walk, so we won't be able to do that (again...seems that every year something comes up which prevents us from taking part in the Zombie Walk).
