Luck
I woke up nearly one hour after the time I normally would and somehow managed to take care of Snails & Molly, get ready, and still have enough time to make it to the train station to catch the earlier train. I'd like to thank the weather for, although being really cold, made it an easier drive this morning. I was able to get some stuff accomplished on the train and got outside of Union Station at a decent time (compared to the normal 7 minutes it takes to get outside).
Once I got outside, I saw dozens of people carrying boxes of soda (small 10 caolorie bottles). I grabbed two and went on my way to the office. I've seen dog food given out before, but never stuff for people to just 'consume'. Hopefully people remember to recycle and Union Station doesn't become littered with small bottles.
I get into the office and the morning meetings went fairly well and I got a fair amount accomplished by lunch time. For lunch we decided to celebrate all of the March birthdays at once. We took taxis to a brazillian steakhouse and the food was delicious. We had a rather large crowd but within minutes of everyone arriving, we were eating. I didn't try all of the meats, but what I did try was very delicious.
We took the Red Line back to the office and walked the distance from the stop to the office. Amazingly peope were walking around handing out free chocolate and urged everyone to try and win a free bag of chocolate. A few of us brought some back to the office and then the day slowly started to get more and more productive as everyone was so stuffed and the office was so warm it was hard to focus. Luckily it wasn't too long before I found my groove and got back into the swing of things. After getting a fair amount accomplished, I decided I needed a break and headed to the train station.
I enjoyed a little bit of daylight on my commute home and had the chance to catch up with Josh with regards to how things were going with work. We had some dinner and I felt lucky so I got a lottery ticket.
I didn't win, but throughout the day I felt rather lucky. Sometimes it's just being in the right spot at the right time and other times it's not so much luck so much as being around people who promote good things or are taking an effort to go out of their way. Either way, I feel very lucky to be where I am and despite some lucky events happening during the day and some less lucky ones, I still feel very lucky and privileged. I know sometimes I feel unlucky, and many others do as well, but there are small acts of kindness that I may perform that may make other people feel as lucky as I do.

I usually take pictures of vanity plates I see. I have yet to see the same vanity plate twice (except family/friends of course).
