More adventures in Karazhan!

Since I don't have anything revelatory to say lately, I figure I'll just post about my WoW adventures.

Not enough people showed up for SSC last night so we decided to finish Karazhan.

We started where we left off on Tuesday night, and went to Prince. I completely spaced the shadow nova he does. I'm not sure how I managed to forget it both Tuesday night and then on the first attempt last night, but one death solved that issue pretty quickly. I think I'm just going to keep a list of all the stuff I need to remember by boss so I can fix those minor memory issues. He dropped a healing mace which I didn't take since I'm still not sure if just pure +healing will be good post patch or not. I still think keeping a good amount of crit and mp/5 will be usefull, but if I'm wrong then I'm only losing 36 healing in favor of 40 hp and 6 mp/5, so a little longevity at the cost of a little healing.

Next we went on to Nightbane. I really enjoy this fight, but I did learn something new about it - Nightbane's fear is rangeable. I thought he was on the same type of thing as Onyxia where the fear was room wide so trying to dodge it was meaningless. Turns out he's more like Magmadar, so in the future I'll maybe be able to stay out of range of fear. Before knowing that, though, we wiped a number of times to all of the healers being feared far away from the tank. I tossed on my PvP trinket to help have more ways to break fear, but that didn't seem to be enough to keep us going through to the kill. I went through most of my different gear configurations as well trying to see if maybe opting for more crit or stam would be better than my max +healing stuff, and while my mana seemed to last longer, it didn't make a huge effect on the whole beyond using one less pot. That went on for a couple hours and after swapping a few people in and out we called it without killing him.

During the fight, we had what I was told was an unusual situation. During the air phase I keep aggro on Nightbane by healing everyone so he does his breaths on me alone. Makes things a lot easier on the group in terms of healing and random people not dying. However, when he goes to land, I stop healing and get up on the wall like everyone else, but he kept aggroing me when he landed despite the tank using his abilities and one of the hunters misdirecting to add hate. I bubbled out of it a couple times, and a couple times bubble was down when he landed, but it seemed to be fairly consistant. I've checked a few sites but I haven't seen anything mentioning it. I intentionally stopped healing earlier on a couple attempts when everyone's HP was good, but it didn't seem to matter. What this comes down to is I ended up dead when I shouldn't have. The other thing I don't think I'm completely in the know about is where he lands. I was under the impression that he landed on whoever had aggro, but the tank did a lot more moving OOR than I expected on a couple attempts, so I am assuming he randomly picks someone to land on, or randomly picks a spot to land at. Not sure what to do about that if it's a random spot, but if it's a random person I'm sure ToT will give me a heads up of where to be.

I also had one of the other raiders suggest I use bubble more often, but I didn't get any specific mentioning of where or when, so I'm assuming they noticed me dying and felt I shouldn't be, but I'm not sure of how to use that information. I use bubble and BoP fairly regularly, and while I recognize bubble could have saved me in some situations, most of them are times where I pull aggro and then get one shotted. I have had some issues with hitting bubble and it not going off before I die, though I'm not sure if that's just because I try to use it during global cooldown so I'm cancelling something or what. I know on Wednesday I was using it like it was going out of style during the Moro fight, trying to keep myself from dying when tombed or helping when the tomb/raid healers were low on mana/OOR. Though I used healthstones for that most of the time, I believe I only bubbled out of tomb once when three of the MT healers said they were tombed. Though during the majority of those attempts I was surviving with decent mana efficiency, so I think I'm getting fairly in tune with that. Only thing I need to do is remember that when the adds target me it's ok to cancel heals to make sure I get them in the right place, though that only went sour twice, and one of them was when forbearance was up from an earlier bubble to avoid dying to Morogrim's AE and I got dazed as nova froze them.

All in all I think I just need to keep on top of keeping boss' abilities in mind and I guess pay more attention to opportunities to use bubble.
