But this moment in my life way to funny not to share.
So I started this awesome new job for a fashion company yesterday. Being that the transmission on my car has decided to not work, I've been the picture of public transportation and have actually been enjoying riding the bus.
Not dealing with traffic, sleeping/reading...totally fantastic. For SOME reason today, even though I left Silver Lake at 7:45 to be at work in Century City by 9, at 8:53 we were still crawling through West Hollywood. I called in late and everything was cool because my boss wasn't coming in until 10. At about 9:30, we're in Beverly Hills and I just can't stand to chance it. Me and 5 others get off the bus except I overestimated a by a good mile and had a bit farther to walk.
Thankfully, I decided to wear flats on the bus and bring heels. So I'm basically running to make it on time and my my shoe flips off almost into traffic. Fun. Grab shoe, continue running straight into what looks like solidly packed dirt.
Wrong. So so so so SO wrong.
It was basically like quicksand and I sank up to my lower calves in this crap! And RUINED my shoes! At this point I'm cursing up a storm.
I pull my feet out [bare] and dig my shoes out, run up to 10100 Santa Monica and change into my heels in front of the security guard who notes my smart choice in wearing flats and changing, get up into my office at 9:57 and beat the bus [I could see the number 4 from my window] by a good quarter of a mile.
And this is fantastic because my boss rounded the corner at exactly 10:01 to ask me how my cold was.
p.s. Did I mention the ferocious head cold? I'm so glad I have a good sense of humor.
