So, you think you know everything about Professor R.J. Lupin, do you? Ha! I think not ;)
1. Remus was born on a Thursday. He could never get the hang of Thursdays.
2. He never has and never will have a full moon on his birthday. He will have one on Sirius's 14th birthday. He will have one full moon on Christmas in 1977.
If he lives long enough, there's another on Christmas in 2015.
3. When he was five, on the third full moon of hundreds to follow, his mother accidentally walked into his locked room before he'd changed back. The little wolf, lying with its head on its paws, just cocked its head to the side and looked at her, but otherwise didn't move. Audrey Lupin thought her son seemed quite lonely, and for the next moon, she left a stuffed bear to keep him company.
He still has that bear, but only Sirius ever knew about it.
4. It took him a lot longer than he ever let on to become used to being nicknamed Moony. Years and years later, when Harry was caught with the Map, he couldn't help but wince a bit at the name as it appeared.
5. He secretly wishes James and Peter had never called Sirius Padfoot, that it could have been his alone to use in the most private of conversations.
6. His absolute fondest memory, the one thing that continually brings out his best Patronus, is the memory of the night he and Sirius were chased from the caves above Hogsmeade by a colony of bats.
7. Remus has a mild allergy to certain kinds of chocolate, usually the darker and more bitter varieties. He discovered it in third year, when James dared him to eat a five-pound slab after their first trip to Hogsmeade. He still thinks the 5 Galleon winnings were worth the blotchy, purple face and brief moments of respiratory distress.
8. He got a D on his Potions OWL. Lily, who had tutored him in the subject during that term, was furious, mostly because her own studies had suffered in the attempt to help Remus remember the basics of Potions, and she had lost the top grade to Snape. For that reason alone, Remus never felt too guilty about what Sirius and James did to Snape that day by the lake.
9. Remus's mother died when he was 20. The Muggle doctors said it was a heart attack, but Remus always suspected that Greyback, if not Voldemort himself, was behind it.
10. Despite his immediate remarks to Harry, it took Remus nearly six months to really accept or believe that Sirius was gone. He wrote Celestina Warbeck a nasty owl on Boxing Day, and then one of apology on New Year's. He told Harry that Sirius was gone so that the boy wouldn't focus on Sirius, and rather on getting out of the Ministry alive.
11. On their first meeting, Remus got hard giving his cousin Gianni a hug. That's when the question of his sexuality was settled for him, once and for all.
12. After James and Lily and Peter were dead and Sirius was in Azkaban, Remus left England and went to live with Gianni and Raphael in Italy. He expected to live there the rest of his life. In 1986 Raphael died of a strange Muggle disease that even had wizards somewhat befuddled, and Remus couldn't handle his cousin's grief on top of his own, so he went back to Blackpool and took care of his father until his death (natural and quite peaceful, thankfully) in 1991.
13. For Christmas in second year, everybody gave him books. Everybody: his parents and his extended family and his friends. He'd really wanted one of those Wizarding Wirelesses that could also pick up Muggle radio. He made his friends swear to never buy him another book.
14. In 1989, Remus took the first trials of the Wolfsbane potion. It nearly killed him, and for a couple hours, Remus truly wished it had. Then he thought of his father, who'd always blamed himself for Remus's "furry little problem", and vowed never to let said problem affect him so dreadfully, ever again.
15. The only people who ever knew he was gay were Sirius (obviously), Peter and James and Lily, his parents, Gianni and Raphael, Emmaline Vance, and (eventually) Nymphadora Tonks.
16. The best time of his adult life were the months he spent teaching at Hogwarts, but that probably doesn't come as a big surprise. He thinks it's funny, because he never wanted to be a professor, and had been offered the job a couple times before the year he accepted it.
17. He never did get up the nerve to tell Sirius about that dream about the two of them and James. He's not sure if he regrets that or not.
18. Remus's favorite color is midnight blue, so dark it's nearly black -- the color of a new moon sky. His least favorite color is silver, the color of the full moon reflecting on his bite scar.
19. He only has a few scars, despite what Peter had hoped when they first realised Remus was a werewolf. The initial attack by Greyback left everlasting marks, but any tears in his skin since have healed flawlessly.
20. Even though he eventually does know that Sirius is not coming back, he still keeps Padfoot's waterbowl clean and ready for use, and a handsome collar and lead ready at the door.
