So it seems I have to get my wisdom teeth taken out.

Last time I had any sort of operation was almost 19 years ago, and that was my tonsils. Last time I had any sort of medical cuts was when I had a swollen thumb, and let me tell you, "numbing" it didn't do jack.

So what should I expect from this? Moreover, how does it feel? I know I'll be out for the majority of it, but before and after and all that. Also, I fucking HATE needles--are any actually required in this? Can they just knock me out with the gas and leave it at that, or do they have to put the needle in then?

Also, why can't they just correct the path of the teeth rather than taking them out entirely?

EDIT--OK, I should clarify what I mean about needles--I mean when I had my tonsils out they gassed me out and then stuck a needle in my arm to keep me out. Is this procedure short enough that they don't have to do *that*?
