Alrighty folks.
It’s not like any of you give a shit.
But why not?
So. Drum roll please. The Wonderbread top albums of the 2004. This is looking at an album beginning to end, as a cohesive item.
1. Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
2. Good News For People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse
3. Together We’re Heavy - The Polyphonic Spree
4. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb - U2
5. Trouble - Ray Lamontagne
6. Genius Loves Company - Ray Charles
7. The Ditty Bops - The Ditty Bops
8. Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters
9. Trading Snakeoil for Wolftickets - Gary Jules
10. Alphabetical - Phoenix
Ok, I cheated a tiny bit. “Snakeoil” was recorded awhile ago, and put out maybe in 2002, but that was being sold out of Gary Jules trunk at his few and tiny gigs. (I am an owner of one o those. There is actually different artwork, and surprisingly, I like the old better.) The album was picked up and distributed in March of this year after his cover of the Tears for Fears song “Mad World” was used in the film Donnie Darko.
I also want to point something out here…
“Franz Ferdinand,” “Trouble,” “The Ditty Bops,” ”Scissor Sisters,” and “Snakeoil” are all debut albums. That’s half of the list.
And now... I give you the wonderful top 15 songs of ’04.
