Farscape as Soap Opera (Season One)
Because I have often joked to people that FS is just a Soap in space, and because, in the S1 ep Nerve, when Scorpius has John strapped to his comfy chair and his going through his memories, he asks “What is that, hmm,” To which John replies “I don’t know. Kinda looks like an episode of Melrose Place.”
Moyrose Place
When handsome, charming geek John Crichton moves into a new apartment little does he suspect how much drama and romance waits for him. He’s welcomed to the building by self-confident cougar, Zoe Ann, the giant, slightly intimidating Gary Ragel and creepy old landlord, Douglas Logan.
Things really heat up for John when he meets Erin, a tempestuous raven-haired beauty who moved in the same day as him. Although she works as a cop, she is being stalked by her ex-colleague, Captain Bill Crais. She is “interested” in John from the moment they meet, when she knocks him down and sits on him in the lobby, suspecting him to be a burglar, but has trouble expressing her feelings, especially, when she sees him with a stream of suitors, including old flame Gilina Raenez. Things get even more complicated when young minx (and possible petty criminal) Karen Shaw moves into the block, making eyes at John, Gary and sometimes even Erin.
Erin and John warily circle each other for the whole of Season 1, even ending up in bed together on one occasion, but then everything changes in the last few episodes with the arrival in the building of sexually ambiguous Mike Braca and his predatory boyfriend Scorpio. When gimp-suited Scorpio invites John round for coffee on his comfy chair you just know that caffeinated beverages are going to be the last thing on the agenda…..
Erin is initially suspicious of her feelings for John
And old flame Gilina is eager to renew acquaintances
But with so many singles living together there is plenty of fun
And games
Until finally Erin and John find time alone
Then everything is turned on its head when a new couple move in…
