Yup, I got injured at work today and will now be on light duty for two weeks maybe more depending on how my injury heals itself. I suppose I will elaborate on the what happened for those of you who may be concerned.
The night is over, and I am riding my pallet jack back towards the battery room to park it and plug it in. A forklift is coming up behind me and since I am going in reverse the forklift is running faster than my jack. The driver, Jake, pulls up next to me to mess around with me, as per normal, but this time he gets a little too close. The forklift hits the power handle/steering handle and it all breaks lose now. The handle gets lodged on the forklift and turns down and slams into my legs pinning my legs between my pallet jack and the forklift crushing them. I get my hand on the control level the whole time to spin the jack away from the forklift and got myself free. I couldn't walk and could barely stand. Jake didn't think he got as bad as what had happened but he did. After about 30 seconds I started to walk it off, typical hockey player. I was offered a ride back to operations on the orange cart but I declined and wanted to walk myself back which I did. Now it took me a few minutes at my very slow pace to get back to operations so me and Jake could report the incident. Paperwork and a piss test follwed. Yup, since we both were operating machinery we both got a breathalizer and a piss test done. That gave me two more hours of overtime.
I went to see a doctor as my usual place I see my primary care doctor, who wasn't in today, and filled out more paperwork for LNI. By this time my left leg was feeling fine except for the lower part of my knee that was pinned against the houseing of the pallet jack. But my right leg still really hurts from just below my nice ass all the way down to my knee. She examined my leg and said there is a lot of soft tissue damage and that I probably won't see a bruise but will be in pain for a while. She said it could take up to two weeks to heal all the tissue. And now I will be on light duty at work for the next two weeks. Two good things came out of this, I got more vicodin and when they weighted me I had lost ten pounds from my last doctors visit, almost two months ago.
So now I am trying to get all doped up on my vicodin and going to get to stay home and watch opening day of the NHL. Other than this did I mention it hurts to walk, go up stairs, sit down, and just do most things? And I can't play hockey on Sunday and I might not be able to go see Blue October on Friday. I need my school girl!!!
