Your powers--give them to me!

So, another one of those posts. Kakashi here has the ability to copy abilities from other people, provided he sees them under certain circumstances, and provided that they are certain sorts of abilities. To that end, this post is mostly for my easy reference. So what I need to know is basically, can Kakashi copy your technique, and what the ( Read more... )

I saw nothing.

Let's see, let's see...

SAI - Is a ninja too. Hurr. Um... Kakashi could probably copy his techniques provided he had a brush, ink, and paper. :P

LEON - This one may or may not be tricky. Magic users in Leon's world are born with the ability to harness mana. The "Blessing of Mana," which isn't a skill that can be unlocked (such as something like ambidexterity). Magic also requires a certain amount of studying, so there may be some mental preparation required from the spells as well. I don't know if the energy is pulled from within or without and I don't know if the ability to use chakra would count as a similar skill - as fighters can use special techniques that may use something more along those lines.

SANJI - All his moves are copyable, I'd think. If Kakashi's that flexible. ;P

BROOKLN - He has no moves.

MATT - ......lol

CALLISTO - All her techniques are purely physical. ♥

Er -- question! Possibly a stupid question, but...anyway. Are we just talking about very specific techniques? Because Angel, being a vampire, certainly has particular supernatural abilities (heightened senses and whatnot), but it's not really a technique per se. D: (And it's also never made entirely clear if it's something supernatural that powers a vampire or if it's a biological effect that alters the corpse once the demon takes over or...yeah. ;__; )

Oh, but physically, Kakashi could copy his moves, but they're nothing special. He's kind of a random mix of street fighting sprinkled with something that vaguely resembles martial arts. :[

Reno is purely human and again, is pretty much a street fighter. He's fast, though, if that counts?

Wash LOL, no. Not unless they somehow end up piloting a spaceship.

Ha ha. Okay. Heightened senses are a no, easy, since as you said, it's not really a technique. As far as super-strength and the like go, uh. I'm inclined to say no. It seems in the case of vampires something that is dependant on them being a vampire--something that would be genetic.

And yeah, looking for specific techniques. I'll edit the post to reflect that. ♥

Haha, okay, got it. 8D;; Yeah, my characters are probably all pretty easy then -- there's not really anything in particular to copy from any of them.

Archer has two nifty magic spells, but the mechanics of his world allow him to draw on energy from within his body and his surroundings so I'm not sure if Kakashi can use them, although I'm leaning towards yes.

Archer can use "Strengthening" to enhance something. Like make a blade sharper or his reflexes quicker. His second spell is "Projection" and it's kinda like the transmutations the Alchemists from the FMA world do.

Okay! So I need to know what are the limitations for those abilities in damned, including what the ability does, and the consequences for using it. :)

Like I said, except my bad, the spell is called "Reinforcement." And like it sounds it just enhances what is already there like making a blade sharper or sturdier. Archer is able to apply this to his body to enhance his physical capabilities like eye sight and reflexes. It only last for a few moments in Landel's, but it allows him to surpass human limitations.

"Projection" is used to transmute various materials into other shapes. So far he's been using it to transform the aluminum bats into swords. These transmutations only last around 24 hours at Landel's before reverting to its previous state, somewhat damaged. Archer can also use it to create special weapons called Noble Phantasms, but they only last a single fight, and there are special requirements to this so I'm not sure Kakashi can use Noble Phantasms.

Archer is left momentarily physically stunned/tired after using these spells.

Farfarello: His fighting abilities are physical/learned. His immunity to/inability to feel pain is genetic.

Leon Magnus: His fighting abilities are physical/learned, except for majinken/Demon Fang. The energy for the majinken/Demon Fang comes from within, AFAIK--you might want to verify with other Tales muns.

Sumeragi Subaru: His techniques are magic and partially learned, but having the power to use onmyoudo magic is at least partially genetic. However, that aside, to copy his techniques Kakashi would also need to copy the technique of MAKING the ofuda, which Subaru does in the privacy of his room.

Freyjadour Falenas: His fighting abilities are physical/learned, but his healing and light-calling abilities are drawn from the Dawn Rune and cannot be copied.

Tachibana Shito: His fighting abilities are physical/learned. If a Chika should ever come into the game--thus making Shito's powers accessible--those could not be copied, as they are directly tied to being a zombie.

Tokito: His fighting abilities are physical/learned. The ( ... )

Okay. Until I hear otherwise, going with a yes on the manjinken. So, if you could please detail what the ability does, and what effects using it has on Leon.

And Subaru...is tricky. I'm inclined to say no, since it sounds like what would be a bloodline limit in his canon.

Lazily quoting directly from Leon's wiki entry, re: what it does @ Landel's: "It's a wave that moves along the ground, about knee-high on an average-height man. It's concussive, rather than heat-based, and can knock back a well-balanced person, and knock over a poorly-balanced person, in addition to causing bruising. On something other than a human, like a giant Landel's rat, which has its head closer to the ground, it might do some actual damage--broken muzzle, damage to the eyes maybe. It's possible to dodge it if one is very fast, but it does move quite quickly across the ground."

There's a YouTube video of Lloyd (Tales of Symphonia) using it... err... over and over and over again for four and a half minutes, here. Though his is obviously taller than Leon can manage at Landel's, but it's the same basic move.

It doesn't do much to Leon to use it, but he needs a little time to concentrate and he can only do it once per night.

Tyki Mikk: I think his abilities are genetic, or at least fall into that category. I don't know if you're familiar with the D.Gray-man canon, but his abilities (manipulation of the world's creations) come with Noah's memory (Pleasure, to be specific). Long story short, it makes him some sort of upgraded human, so I don't think Kakashi would be able to copy his abilities. Another aspect of 'his' power are the Tease, but they don't really count since they're merely tools, and he doesn't have them in Landels right now. So nope, no copying.

Scar: Aside from heightened senses (which are genetic since he's a lion), he has no abilities. Again, no copying.
