I'm not to happy to be back home. I had the best week in such a long time and it has further more convinced me that I want to move to Sydney when I eventually have the means.
Tom loved it which was good because I loved showing him around and having all of my family meet him for the first time.
He was a little mental with excitement on the plane, kept pushing his face up against the window and grinning at me like a maniac. Theres always the hint of insanity with him, but I love it and crave the unexpected.
Our flight over was nice and smooth, left at 9am and touched down in Sydney at about 11.15am, not to much tubrbulance despite the heavy clouds we flew thru. When we arrived we had to catch the underground train from the airport threw to the city station and then a connecting train to Hornsby Heights the suburb my grandparents live in.
We arrived at my grandparents mid afternoon and spent the afternoon chatting and walking around the streets admiring all the huge houses and gardens.
On Wednesday we went to the mall in Hornsby and spent all day hunting for suitable sunglasses to wear for our trip into the middle of the city the next day.
Thursday me, mum and Tom caught the train into the city and spent the day hunting down vintage clothing shops in Surry hills which is a posh suburb with tons of arty little shops. Found a few cool shops like Zoo Emporium (clothes not animals), Felt, Route 66 and a Wheels and Doll Baby Boutique which was one of my favourites but very much out of my price range.
Friday Tom and I caught the train back into to city again and went sight seeing. We got off the train at Milsons point and walked across the Harbour Bridge so I could show Tom the best views of Sydney Harbour. From the Bridge we walked down to the Rocks district around the harbour which is full of arty shops and touristy stuff and then onto Circular Quay and the Opera House. We had a picnic lunch in the botanical gardens so we could see the hundreds of bats in the trees and the governors house.
I reckon we must have walked across the whole city on Friday because from the gardens we then walked up to China town and Paddy's markets.
Tom liked china town, because it also had a lot of Japanese stuff, sushi, samuri swords, anime.... I liked looking in the boutiques coz the clothes were the ones you see on those kids in Japan who wear everything at once!
Spent the rest of the afternoon shopping before catching the train back to my grandparents place and having tea with them at the club.
Saturday my aunt and cousin came up from rural NSW and we went to the movies. Sunday was a family lunch day with all the assorted rellies and Monday we went to Darling harbour and the Chinese gardens.
I'm amazed at how much we managed to cram into that week and also at how far Tom and I walked. I'm fairly sure I lost a kilo or two along the way.
I think the best part of the trip was being able to spend it with Tom and to show him a place thats so important to me and my family. Having my family meet him was great to because they got on so well and are looking forward to seeing each other again at Christmas.
We arrived home yesterday night and I'm so exhausted, but thankfully I dont have to work till next week.
Shit I cant believe how long this entry is I think I'll just finish up by saying I spent so much money and my suitcase is overflowing with shoes.
Its not good to be home!!!!
