So apparently there's this trip to "Doyleton" tomorrow, and even though there's been some mention of it, could the people who have already been there put the information in one place? What are we supposed to expect?

- How strict is the supervision?
- Is there a subway/train or any cars?
- Has anyone made a break for it?
- Are there any computer ( Read more... )

If you're at all familiar with what a typical town in the United States was like from...I'd say between 1960 and the early 1980s, give or take a few years in either direction, that's what you can expect to see tomorrow. The supervision has seemed to me to be a tiny bit looser than what you can expect here inside the Institute, but the storekeepers and residents have been informed of our arrival and will also be watching.

There aren't any computer terminals, and yes, the stores and restaurants are American. There's a car dealership in town, but as far as I know no one's actually tried to leave using one of the cars, and the town's too small for a subway.

I'll see what I can do about mapping the place tomorrow, but as for now, I don't believe any maps exist.

Hey! If you want any help with the mapping, I can lend a hand. I was thinking about doing a bit of exploring anyway, so it wouldn't be a stretch for me to take that a step further.

Ah, I'd appreciate that. Can we compare our maps sometime tomorrow, maybe around lunchtime?

Sure thing! How 'bout the Twin Pine Restaurant? If you don't recognize my handwriting from previous posts, by the way, I'm Yuffie.

It'll be a pleasure to speak with you, Miss Kisaragi, and I'll see you then.

Just call me Yuffie. All the formalty makes my nose itch. And you're Miles Edgeworth, right?

Maps do exist, actually, but one would be better off simply asking one of the Doyleton residents for all of the difference it makes.

Do they? I was under the impression that they didn't, given I've not seen one floating around.

I can't speak for the rest, but mine is not public.

...then why bring it up at all?

Well, I suppose that in that case it's a good thing a public map will be available before too much longer.

As you say.

What's that supposed to mean anyway? What are you gaining in keeping it a secret?

I said it wasn't public, I didn't say it was a secret. And I gain nothing either way, because like I said, it's unlikely you'd need one.

I went to New York City once when I wasn't very old, but other than that and movies or whatever, my knowledge is pretty much limited to Japan.

That's weird, are you saying there's no computers at all?? How do they check things out? I was also under the impression that there would be someone here capable of hijacking a car, but I guess if they were being watched too carefully....

Hm. In that case, think of the smallest Japanese town you're familiar with, and the kind of stores and such that would be there. That should give you some idea.

It's strange, but I didn't see a newspaper with a date on it while I was there, and the same goes for the library here. I assume there are televisions inside private residences, but I don't know how you'd look.

I think the fact that they're being watched too carefully is the exact reason why no one's tried - or succeeded if they did try - hotwiring a car and using that.

Uh. You said something about 1960-1980, and that's 20-40 years before I was even born, so... well, don't worry about it. I guess I'll see it when we get there.

I meant how the stores check out items- I've never been anywhere that doesn't have cash registers and an electronic credit system of some sort. How would they make transactions outside of the mentioned coupons? It seems like they're not even trying to make the place plausible.
