[To here]"Made it..." She whispered triumphantly as she walked quietly into the dark and quiet hallway first. It was hard to decide where the best place would be to stand since once others began to flood in, Asuka could easily be overshadowed by the taller adults. "Hmmm..." The best she could guess was to hug the opposite wall by the doorway and ( Read more... )

Since Tifa approached him out of the dark without a flashlight on to announce her presence, Zack was almost surprised by her. But his instincts kicked in quick enough that he avoided letting out any undignified gasps or yelps, and instead just turned to face her with a grin to match her more mild smile. "Glad you could make it!" His gaze immediately dipped down to her leg, to try and see if it looked any better, but it was hard to tell. "How're you feeling?" he asked, even though he doubted he'd get a sincere answer.

Still, Tifa had a materia of her own, which meant that she might be able to just attack the zombies from a distance and leave it at that. If they were even still there. They'd gotten pretty lucky when they'd ended up in Doyleton the other night, but they wouldn't have an easy escape route this time around, so they needed to be prepared. "Ice and Thunder, huh? We're like the dynamic duo!" Zack tossed his own materia into the air and then caught it, dropping it back into his pocket once Tifa showed him her ring.

So this was the infamous portal ring, as Landel had called it. Getting zapped around hadn't been such a terrible experience for him, so he didn't really have any qualms about using it. Now he was just hoping that Tifa didn't get queasy, since he'd had to deal with more than enough of that the other night. "Yeah, punching sounds good to me!" he remarked, placing a hand on his hip as he watched her. "That's your specialty, isn't it? Go for it."

She had really been hoping Zack would either forget, which wasn't really going to happen, or he would just assume her appearance meant she was able-bodied once more and could survive the night. But no, he remembered like the good SOLDIER he was. Not that she could blame him since Tifa would have done the same thing in his shoes.

"Good!" She patted her right leg at the thigh. "It scabbed over already," The last of her bruising had cleared up as well. Her nose was a bit wider at the bridge even after the medical staff, or who ever else, had reset the bone and cartilage, but it wasn't very noticeable to those unfamiliar with her. She was healthy and fit again, and ready to clean out Doyleton! Even better still was her partner's sense of humor. It was rare to find those who could rise above oppression with a smile. Though, there were times when her good attitude only stayed in place to comfort the masses, Zack's seemed rather genuine, something she thought was surprising coming from the line of work he did. Tifa appreciated it nonetheless; it gave her a chance to ease up.

"Alright, well, here goes nothing..." Tifa faced the wall behind Zack. Her left palm smoothed over the cold paint covering the wall, testing for weak points or studs in the wall. Thankfully, it wasn't drywall since she would only make swiss cheese out of the thing and never break the ring, but the solid weight she felt still made her cautious. This was going to hurt. A lot, in fact. Tifa didn't have her gloves and her endurance wasn't like it used to be. Tifa could very well break her hand, but as the saying went: No guts, no glory. This was the quickest way to reach her goal. A few busted knuckles would be nothing new. She pressed a tight fist against the wall and stepped back until her arm was completely straight. Taking a deep breath, Tifa let it out slowly as she stepped forward and thrust her right fist out, letting her shoulder roll inward with experienced ease.

It connected quickly and the shock wracked up her arm and was absorbed by her body. Her pinky finger throbbed from the extra impact it took because of the ring, and she hoped it wouldn't need to be repeated a second time.
