Day 52: Doctor's Office 9 (Dr. Weaver) [Second Shift]

Sep 27, 2010 17:18

The schedule here, while not so chaotic as schedules she had worked under, was enough to be slightly unnerving to Dr. Weaver. It wasn't that she couldn't work under pressure; in fact, she normally worked quite well under some degree of pressure. It was...the lack of pressure, really, that she protested. The fact that she couldn't get to know her ( Read more... )

He hadn't expected another therapy session so soon. He hadn't expected another doctor so soon, either. The nurse had noticed his slightly-surprised expression when she commented that he was off to a therapy session instead of the library, and her vague explanation about Dr. Stein being absent hadn't helped matters. Perhaps the bespectacled doctor had quit? Or possibly left?

Either way, he was relieved that he wouldn't be dealing with that particular man any time soon; something about him had made Minato uneasy.

Maybe it had been the giant screw in his head.

He stood to one side as the nurse knocked on the office door, hands in pockets and brows knit together thoughtfully as they waited for a response from within. He wondered what kinds of invasive questions this attempt at "therapy" would bring with it.

There wouldn't be any particularly invasive questions. It wasn't Dr. Weaver's style to do so. One doesn't need to know a patient's entire life story in order to treat them; asking all sorts of invasive questions about all kinds of incidents just meant a higher signal-to-noise ratio to deal with.

"Please, make yourself comfortable," she began, motioning to the seats in front of her. She didn't see any obvious physical injuries, but she wanted to take a closer look at him, just to be sure.

"And do you prefer 'Christian', or Minato-kun?" The last question was asked in perfect Japanese.

Minato paused at the door as the nurse took her leave, nodding faintly before moving forward to take a seat. He leaned back, tilting his head slightly at the question. "Minato." It was a different approach, that was for sure. At least this doctor didn't look as outwardly strange as the last.

"You're Japanese?"

"Minato-kun, then," she said, nodding her head. "And yes - my family lives on Okinawa. I came to the United States through a medical exchange program. Once the program was over, I decided to stay in this country."

Her initial assessment was correct, it seemed. No obvious physical injuries, mental status seemed good - he looked tired, but she didn't see anything else out of the ordinary. Tired wasn't good enough to land someone in a hospital, though, not when it looked like all he needed was a good night's sleep.

"Can you tell me a little about why you're here? I know what the computer says, but I'd like to hear it in your own words."

Why he was there, in the institute? Did anyone in actuality know why they were trapped there? Friends could disappear without warning, his Personas were greatly restricted, other patients displayed powers he had never seen before... And then there were the communications of the head doctor and some resistance movement that he knew little about.

But beyond that, he did not even know the fake reason he was in the institute. The nurse had mentioned him needing to be cured of "hearing voices," but he hadn't inquired beyond that.

"I don't know why I'm here." He decided honesty would be the best approach for this. "But we can't leave freely."
