There was something in the act of waking that pulled on memory of a day long since past. A dryness in his throat and a swelled tongue spoke of sedation on top of sedation, and he vaguely wondered what he could have done to get sedated the instant he woke. The duel injections canceled emotions, feeling--what was left was only a pounding at his consciousness, one any other might attribute to the headache gained the night before, but this was nothing so simple. It was a sibling, of course, repeating a phrase that now rang monotonous. He had been saying it for some time. And what, now, would plague Nigredo so to press at his brother's mind in abandon? What could be so absolutely imperative--

And what would be so completely important? It came late, a belated realization as it had the first night. The telltale resonance of two hearts in tandem.

...What had he said? What had he whispered into the silence of his mind that night? What held so perfect, even now? More, now! Oh, brother where art thou, you who causes this glorious sensation?! ( ... )
