Though, not completely vulnerable. Although Locke didn't have his knife on him at the moment, he still had that flashlight of his that he had dropped during his fall, by his side. His hands moved to make a quick grab for it, and he stood up, taking a small step back.
But then, he stopped. Just as he let out a sharp breath, a voice came from behind him-if it could even be considered a voice. And there was something to the right that Locke had caught sight of from the corner of his eye. As soon as he could find an opening, he'd have to get out of here. Perhaps inside... well, that was the only other option available to him. Inside, or try and scale the walls that whatever it was that was out there had access to.
"What are you, shy?" he commented, keeping a close eye around his surroundings. Front, back, left and right-it could come from anywhere, right?

As soon as light touched it, however, it writhed into something that vaguely approximated something humanoid and crawled, one arm over the other, over the grass. Without feature or light -- rather seeming to be a gathering of blackness that sucked the surrounding light in entirely -- it moved in a grotesquely rapid rhythm toward Locke.
The rattling concentrated; focused onto the shape and grew louder with each second.

Yeah, no, he didn't stand a chance as is against this thing right now-Locke always had good intuition for probability, and this just happened to be one of those situations where running away was probably just about his only option left. Reaching for the handle even before he could reach the door itself, he quickly twisted the knob and forced the door open, running through and shutting it behind him.
