The man’s perpetual upbeat nature alone was not something Aidou was used to being around at night--it was something he would have even avoided, where it was found in girls like Senna and Anise. Sure, by human standards, Zack was more mature than them by quite a few years (for Senna, perhaps more than just a few), but he was still fairly new. As the Institute took greater and greater tolls, what would they look like? Would these sorts of easygoing questions be what suffered first?
Gaze roving the darkness at the same time he searched for traces of blood in the areas beyond, he replied with, "Well enough." Which was a lie as much it was the truth, but there was no room to confess his moods and failures and circular theories. Aidou's comment was a relief of a distraction; Sasuke had noticed the strange increase in unusual events as well. From what he could remember, they had gone weeks without such disturbances before, but it had been close to nightly and daily of late. And as for actually meeting the voice on the radio -- that was unusual, but it had happened before.
He opened the door to the next hall before responding, moving with familiarity in the halls that had taught him how to navigate blindness.
