Nightshift 23: M31-M40 Hallway

Apr 20, 2007 19:53

Dinner had been an altogether depressing affair - Tamaki's problems only seemed to underline what Seimei had said earlier about not relying on other people here. Ritsuka had hoped that perhaps he had been wrong, but if Adel was so easily turned against someone like Tamaki, then who could turn on Ritsuka? Or Seimei for that matter ( Read more... )

Omi seemed reluctant to set the pace this time. He didn't have a destination in mind, and he didn't know this place nearly so well as he would like to. Besides, Aya didn't seem to be among the people milling about the hallway, so it was just him and Kurama. For some reason that was giving him the odd urge to just.. well, act like he wasn't Bombay as well as Omi for once. Kurama certainly didn't expect him to lead, so why not take advantage of it?

The radio announcement made little sense to him, and he really wasn't one to trust claims made by sources he didn't know to be reliable. So he ignored it, filing it away for future reference should he need it but putting it out of his mind.

"That's good, then. Where should we go? You said you wanted to find weapons." That had sounded like as good an idea as any. He felt almost bad for not waiting for Aya as he edged his way down the hallway, but he had the sneaking suspicion that if they met up he would feel compelled to get independent confirmation on Yohji's story, and a combat zone of any sort wasn't the place for that.

Kurama nodded to the mention of weapons. "I tried to get into the shed by the soccer field my first night here, but I was attacked by a monster. I didn't get a chance to actually open the door, but whatever was in there must be useful if it was being guarded." At least, that was his logic.

"It's not far from here, just out the door at the end of the hall. And there's two exits from the field, if we happen to get into trouble. It's probably the safest place to look right now if we want something to fight with."

Everything considered, most of the 'forces' of the building were going to be situated at the front door and at least the Chapel, since Jack had pointed it out so clearly. As out of the way as the shed was and considering that there were no brainwashed patients like last time, it seemed likely that it might be unguarded. Or at the very most, poorly guarded.

Omi considered all that carefully before nodding. He would feel better fighting out in the open without the confines of the hallways. Plus, at least outside there would probably be moonlight instead of this weird, artificial darkness.

"Alright. That sounds like as good a place to go as any. Can you find it again?" The dark messed with a person's sense of direction, not to mention depth perception and everything else. He wouldn't blame Kurama for getting turned around.

"Easily," Kurama replied, though he still refrained form turning on his flashlight. It was early in the night yet, so there were others in the block with lights that still cast the barest hint of a glow at the end of the hallway.

"It's straight down the hallway, past the other male block, so it's not like you can get lost." Though, it was the same hallway that they got attacked in last night... Well, if they moved quickly, maybe it wouldn't be a problem.

He started moving down the hallway, not really leading so much as doing something useful while waiting for Kurama to take the lead. It wasn't bright in the hallway by any means, but no good assassin relied only on his eyes. These weren't the worst conditions he'd ever worked under. Just close.

"I don't know. I get the feeling sometimes that if this place wanted you to get lost, you would." He laughs, quietly so as not to attract too much attention. "Or maybe I'm just paranoid."

Paranoid? Kurama could relate to the feeling. "There's been mention of the building changing before, but it supposedly happened right before I got here, so I've never seen it happen." He paused. "Except when they somehow changed the rooms to accommodate for roommates. I woke up and the extra bed, desk, and even the closet were just there. It was..disturbing."

But that wasn't something he wanted to think about right now... Taking the lead, Kurama headed through the darkness down the hallway, making to leave the room block.
