Scott didn't like the sound of that intercom announcement one bit. Granted, he was hard-pressed to think of one he did like. Maybe the ones that involved pancakes? ...No. No, not even those. By virtue of the man talking about them, those announcements were tainted. Those pancakes were tainted. Tainted pancakes.
Ew.In any case, it sounded like

"Right..." He grasped the handle, turned it, and soon pushed the door open. Without wasting another second, Claude stepped into the room, eyes scanning across the area. But even with only Guy's flashlight, it was painfully obvious there was no one in here.
He paused for a moment, frowning to himself. Maybe Dad wound up making plans to go out after all. It wasn't like Claude could blame him since they'd taken all night to get here. Still, there was something about all this that didn't seem quite right. It wasn't until he caught sight of something glinting from one of the beds that he began to understand what.
"Is that--?" But he didn't finish his sentence, dropping it in favor of just going to see for himself. In actuality, there were two items resting on top of the blankets. Claude lifted one of them up, and upon closer inspection, saw that it was the gun they'd found during that horrible night in Doyleton. There was something else, too, though. He immediately reached for that one as well. It was a lot different from the pistol, but much more familiar to Claude.
"A phase gun," he breathed, more to himself than anyone else right then. Eyebrows furrowing, he brought it closer to his face, inspecting the design. It wasn't unlike the one his father had given him at the start of his journey, but there were subtle changes in the design that signified it was a somewhat older model than the one the Federation used in Claude's own time. Still, the make was more or less the same, which meant that it must have been the weapon Dad obtained from their time on the Calnus.
Why was this lying around, though? There was no way Dad, a senior officer, would just leave an advanced form of weaponry sitting here for just anyone to find. Claude briefly closed his eyes, trying to make sense of it. "This shouldn't be here..."
He whirled around to face Guy, looking urgent now as he shook his head. "This shouldn't be here. Something's happened to my father." The thought of him being pulled out of his room during dinner by a pair of orderlies suddenly struck him, and Claude's grip tightened on both of the weapons he was holding, heart racing in his chest. "We've gotta find him!"

Nonetheless, he followed Claude over to the bed, also noticing that there were two items sitting there. One he recognized, from a night that he wasn't in a hurry to remember. His hand went to the spot on his chest where Claude had bitten him, but he dropped it just as quickly, not wanting his friend to see and feel guilty. Although that didn't seem likely to happen, since Claude was staring at the two guns (the other one Guy didn't know, though it looked more high-tech and was apparently called a phase gun; something he would have to ask about, at a better time) as if they would give him the answer about his father's location.
Though Claude quickly broke out of his reverie and turned to face him, panic clearly written on his face. "Whoa," Guy replied, pulling one hand up in a calming motion, "hold on. What do you mean?" How would a gun make it obvious that Ronixis was in trouble? Did he always take it with him or something? "We don't even know where he is..." Unless Claude meant experimentation, but... what were the chances of them getting up there when it was already so late in the night? They were lucky enough to have made it this far.
Guy watched Claude carefully, hoping that his more level tone and expression would help to calm the younger man down so that he could explain himself better.
