Aigis had no idea where Rei's thoughts had traveled, but it was probably for the best. Aigis recognized her persona's name of origin. She understood her own as well. But Nyx was no ordinary Shadow and neither was she a Persona, so Aigis lacked the same understanding Rei may have had of the goddess.

"She does, in a sense," Aigis began, still trying to scrub in the body wash. "Nyx is a goddess of reckoning. The Shadows are a sign of her coming."

Aigis stopped there. If Rei knew something more, she might continue to talk of The Fall, but she wasn't prepared to tell her just yet. She had already made the mistake of telling Heat about the end of the world. She did not need to break another's innocence. It would only cause her more pain.

"Shadows are only active during a time normal humans do not experience. We call it the Dark Hour, an hour hidden between each day. It begins at the stroke of midnight, and ends before one second can pass." Rei could choose to believe her or not believe her here. Aigis knew only what she spoke was true. "During this time, normal humans sleep in a Transmogrofied state. However, some people awaken during this time.

"These people sometimes have the potential to awaken to the power of Persona, which becomes their shield against the Shadows. Shadows avoid such humans. But, now and then, when someone without the potential awakens in the Dark Hour, the Shadows converge upon them and..." She did not need to say the rest for Rei to get the picture.
