Day 51: Intercom, Noon
As soon as the jingle came on through the speakers, the nurses and orderlies in the showers began frowning and urging anyone who was still washing up to hurry and finish. The nurses in the Arts & Crafts room, on the other hand, began reorganizing all the materials that had been taken out for the children and gently reminded them that they only had a few minutes left to complete their projects for the day.
"Hello again, everybody!" the Head Doctor's voice called out merrily. "It's time for another delicious Landel's meal, and this time, it's... hamburgers and hot dogs, with all the usual toppings and condiments you could ask for on such All-American cuisine! A-ha... Of course, we have french fries, cole slaw, and garden salad as possible sides, and an entire salad bar for those of you who want to stay away from the red mea- ...Right! Today, for the first time, per some suggestions, we will be offering turkey and veggie burgers and dogs as alternatives to the usual meal!
"Anyway, I hope that all sounds good! Yum. I'll be speaking to you all later!"
The intercom clicked off.
