Night 50: Sun Room

Jul 17, 2010 01:14

[from here]At the front of the group, Indy edged cautiously into the Sun Room, sweeping his flashlight around in a search for movement or lurking figures. A couple of times he thought he caught something, but it was hard to tell in the darkness and with the arrhythmic tramping of six pairs of feet behind him. If something was here, they might just ( Read more... )

[From here]

"Whoa...." This room was really big. There were couches everywhere. "Oh hey! I know this room, hahaha!" This was the place where he saw those people getting attacked by the big ol' monkey. Gosh, he hoped they were alright, since those mean white people kept hindering his heroic plan to save them.

[s c r e a m I'm sorry this is so late, dammit LJ! Also, timeskipped to after the doom thread of doom?]

Rika's eyes went wide as they entered the Sun Room. She'd heard enough stories about what happened here at night that she was wary. She didn't want to have to use what she had in her pocket; the knife's weight felt too heavy by half and she felt a little sick and dizzy at the thought of needing to use it.

There was no reset. There wasn't someone who could come and save her if she died here. So...

The girl turned to Claire then, tugging on her sleeve once. "I - I have a weapon. But I'd rather someone who's older than me have it to take care of. It's something I was given, so I may ask for it back one day, but..."

She took a deep breath, then took out the knife, still wrapped in layers of T-shirts, and offered it.

[I see your late and raise you DOUBLE LATE. Also yes, very time-skipped. Otherwise I'll have to playercest ;;]It wasn't a fluke. After another nonsensical announcement and that ear-splitting screech, Claire had thought that her ears were still ringing. That or the boy had been talking too fast to understand. She couldn't make sense of anything that came from his mouth. Memories of Jin and Sun popped into mind, the pair speaking to each other in rapid Korean with funny syllables and an unfamiliar rhythm while the rest of the camp watched, politely confused ( ... )

They were being watched. No, not by some mysterious force pervading the room or some creature lurking in the darkness. They were being watched by, of all things, an eye. And just an eye.

While Rika was offering Claire the knife and the two had their attention there, a tiny gap, but a few inches across, opened up and folded inside out, becoming a floating eyeball, all right before Goku's own eyes. Staring at the boy, it floated around him in a circle a few times. Of course, the moment the other two would look, it disappeared.

And then it came back with friends. Seconds after that, dozens of little gaps opened all throughout the air, each turning into a floating eyeball with a small popping noise. They didn't seem intent on doing anything other than staring though. Well, they were just eyeballs.

Goku had given up paying attention to the big girl. She kept on mumbling about something, but he couldn't understand it, so there was no point in trying. There was plenty of other stuff to distract him from her constant jibber jabber, especially this thing in front of him. It was like there was wrinkle in the air. The harder he stared, the more it began to shape and then--

"Uwwwahh!" The little boy howled, surprised to find an eyeball staring at him. He did his best to follow it, but it kept moving around him so quickly. "H-Hey! Hey!" Waddling backwards, he bumped into Claire and tugged on her shirt frantically. "Th-there's a... a..." His words were not coming out very well, but he could certainly point. "... Eyeb--Hey! Where'd they go?" Cautiously he took a step forward and quickly regretted it. The eyeball had found allies!

"English?" Rika tilted her head to one side, asking in the best English she could manage. Her grasp on the language was fleeting at best, and her voice slipped into a bit of a lisp as she tried to manage. "I talk in -- Nippon - you were too. Till bad man -- " She sighed, gesturing with her flashlight to the intercom.

It was only then that she was able to put an image to the feeling that she was being watched, when she heard the word 'eye' in clear Japanese.

"Eye." She said the single word in English, then went back to her Japanese. "Just try and stay calm. Okay?"

That accent had not been there before. She was sure of it. Claire's brows furrowed as she tried to suss out the message in the girl's broken English. "Nippon? What is Nippon ( ... )

The eyeball was neatly sliced in half by Claire's attack, squelching with a loud, wet noise before it seemed to implode into a bloody mass that squirted out in all directions - luckily, the blood and aqueous humor all disintegrated in mid-flight before ever reaching them, leaving no evidence behind of its existence. Then, one by one, the other eyeballs all began to convulse, as if in pain, pupils wildly contracting and expanding before they each imploded just like the first with a bloody, wet pop, disappearing back into the void from which they'd come.

That wasn't the end of it though. After a small moment of silence, the air tore before them with a ripping sound, a gap opening vertically in front of the trio as Yukari Yakumo, youkai of borders and boundaries, dressed in all her finery, did appear before them. She had a hand over one eyes and a bored look on her face as the gap closed behind her ( ... )
