NIght 50: West Wing, North Hall 1-B

[from here]There was no one here yet. And wasn't that strange? If she remembered correctly, there was a male patient block here. Even if it was away from the others, it should still be fairly well occupied. Were they all just staying in for the night? It was also odd that no one from the female block had come up this way yet either. Either it ( Read more... )

[From here]

It took little time to reach the recreational field from where his cell was located; it was only a matter of moving through a small number of hallways. The only problem would be of what was on the field, however, as there were relatively high chances of it being guarded. A logical solution would be traveling in a capable group and taking on the enemy would be an advantage; a ninja had no need for honorable one-on-one battles, something that wouldn't change now. However, finding a group and having its' members gather would take up otherwise valuable time, time the ninja wasn't willing to spend now ( ... )

So she was simply early after all, as was this man. That, or the patient population had decreased significantly since she'd been in the Institute last. The glance Callisto gave the man was one of disinterest at first. He wasn't the sort of company she'd prefer to be traveling with that night - too bold and sure of himself. It wasn't that she didn't think she could handle him if they got into a dispute, but she would have preferred someone easier to command.

Nevertheless, he'd spoken up and she might as well learn what she could from whoever she could. If nothing else, she could always shove him in the way of danger. Never underestimate the value of a meatshield.

"Yeah, same here. Thought maybe there was something going on I didn't know about." Easy enough, seeing how long she'd been out of commission, but he didn't need to know that if she could help it.

After the nonsense last night, Tenzen wouldn't have been surprised if the patient populace had suddenly gone up into thin air. But for now, it would be a more logical assumption to simply state they were early in leaving their respective rooms.

"However, it would seem it is a mere matter of patients choosing to needlessly linger in their cells," the ninja commented.

Under normal circumstances, the lack of any accomplishments would hardly have been a wonder, but these were hardly normal circumstances. Nights ended abruptly, sometimes allowing one to venture to the nearby ruins, sometimes not even allowing the ninja little further than the patient blocks. It was unpredictable, and irritating...

He nodded to the door leading to the recreational field. "I don't suppose you were planning to head outside as well?" Why else would a woman choose to head through this hallway? The female blocks were located south of here after all ( ... )

Lingering needlessly was a good way to put it. Perhaps this whole 'teleportation' business from the night before had them worried, not wanting to step through any doorways for fear of running into the same problem again. Callisto had no such worries, and in fact felt that getting tossed from one room to another at random would at least add an interesting twist to what could otherwise be a rather boring night. Clearly this man wasn't bothered by any lingering threat, and if the announcements were anything to go by, it didn't look as if the same thing would be happening again tonight anyway.

"I was." Callisto nodded once, an odd smile playing on her lips. "Don't suppose you were going to ask if I wanted company?" She twirled her radio around one finger by its small strap, idly. "Because I don't. Not really. But, you know," she winked, "two heads are better than one."

Such a lame line. It sounded like something Hercules would say, but for now it had gotten the point across.

A smirk crept onto Tenzen's lips in response, and he chuckled softly as if he was amused by the woman's response. She seemed to be a confident one, didn't she?

"Perhaps," he said, "But as you said, two heads are better than one. After all, it would not be the first time the recreational field happens to be guarded. I suppose crossing it together would provide an advantage to both of us." Not that he was in particular need of protection, but Tenzen hardly had any reservations about engaging an enemy in numbers. And if the woman in front of him would prove incompetent, she could always serve the role as life bait.

The ninja paused briefly, watching the woman for a moment with his dark eyes before he said: "Do you not agree?"

No, this man definitely wasn't the sort she was looking to work with right now. Was she worried? No. She could find the kinks in everyone's armor. He'd be no different. It would simply require a little more effort on her part. And anyway, hadn't she been looking for more of a challenge? This could prove to be what she'd been looking for.

"I do agree. So I'm going to head that way, and you're more than free to follow." Of course, it would be important to establish that they'd be going where she wanted to go, or else he'd be on his own. He seemed like the sort of person who might be able to play the follower until it suited him otherwise. Whatever happened at that point, she'd just have to figure out then.

Without another word, she started off down the hallway and out the door.
