Night 50: F11-F20 Hallway

[F18→Hallway]

The indignation Natalia had felt following her conversation with Anise had faded, minutely, during dinner. It returned with a vengeance as that man's voice disturbed the air. How could he? What nerve, what absolute unfathomable gall to lie throughout the day, then speak so frankly when night fell. Why pretend at all? Why paint an ( Read more... )

A ring, huh? As soon as the speaker went off, Morgan jumped up and pulled open the desk drawer--and sure enough, there it was, a silver (real, she was fairly certain) band with a red oval-shaped stone she couldn't identify. It didn't look that impressive--heck, it didn't even look like it'd be worth more than a few pieces o' eight to some junk dealer--but Morgan knew enough about voodoo to know that a trinket like this could be worth a lot more than the sum of its parts ( ... )

What kind of announcement was that supposed to be? Rika wasn't sure, but she didn't like the sound of it. Not in the least. All thoughts of what she wanted to do during the daytime vanished, and she gritted her teeth in anger. This was just...it was too much. Nothing was worse than showing someone an unattainable kakera, dangling it in front of them like a toy and then smashing that dream.

She went to her desk, taking out her things, and then she saw it. An oval ring, with a red stone set in the center.

Rika gasped at the sight of it, then recoiled just a bit. Why...why her? They hadn't been that far before they went to Cissnei's world.

This could be a backup, then. A failsafe, in case something went wrong. That made her feel a little better as she gathered the rest of her things and headed out the door.

The Head Doctor did mention a prize before, didn't he? As the man made his announcements, Anise dug around in her desk drawer, but found nothing inside. Looked like it was either Luke or Guy who got lucky this time.

Not that it could be really be called 'lucky'. If that ring really worked as they were being told, then it would just teleport them two halls away from their rooms. Not exactly useful. But if it could be used to mark another place for teleportation... that would be useful. Landel's vagueness about that subject was extremely suspicious, though.

As she always did, Anise gathered together her nighttime equipment: her meat tenderizer, flashlight, and a rolled-up pillowcase stuffed into the sack on Tokunaga's back. Tokunaga came too, of course.

Something was off, though Sophie couldn't quite place what that was in her current state of half sleep. She blinked blearly, and scrubbed at her eyes. There was no aching or popping joints when she stretched, but it wasn't just the lack of elderly pain that seemed off ( ... )

While she didn't get as much accomplished as she had hoped within the day, Renamon had learned things that would prove to be useful. The bulletin had dropped lines and hints as well, and after sliding knuckle on hand and placing some scalpels on her person, Renamon slid the radio into the pocket of her black jacket, wondering if anything would come of it.

After that, it was just a matter of how to find Beelzemon.
