This was where his skill with stalking people came in handy; Matt crept along as quietly as he could, relieved to see that the hallways still seemed to be pretty empty. He liked this turn of events. It put him at ease as he strode determinedly down the hall, images of his mental map of the ground floor of Landel's running through his ( Read more... )

Excitement was rushing through Ammy's head. Perhaps getting used to this human form was easier than she imagined. After all, the goddess had made it all this way on her own without any help at all!
So overcome with a mixture of emotions, she nearly forgot to check the map again.

Takashi's room was M60 - straight ahead. She counted two other halls before reaching it. Her heart was hammering in her chest as she made the final turn.

Normally, Mori didn't stop when he was on his way to Mitsukuni's room, but tonight was somewhat special. Although they'd only met once during the day, Mori was never able to forget someone's scent, especially if that person made an impression on him. And someone like Amaterasu-Ookami? Yeah, she made an impression.

He made the turn into the main hall just as she was about to turn into Honey's and felt his heart jump at the sight of her. It wouldn't be proper to let her get to the room before him, especially since this was her first night! Picking up the pace, Mori jogged after her and caught her just as she started up the next hall.

"Amaterasu-sama," he said by way of greeting, slowing down as he caught up.

The sudden voice startled the goddess.
By instinct, Amaterasu let out a snarl and spun around, her body immediately dropping into a combative stance. But as the owner of the voice got closer, she saw it was none other than Takashi himself. Ammy quickly straightened up and clasped her hands over her mouth, an unfamiliar heat flooding her cheeks.

"S-s-sorry!" she stammered. "Sur . . . S-surprised."

Hadn't he said his room was M60? Her mind ran over their conversation at brunch and the notices posted on the bulletin board. They were supposed to meet here, weren't they? Had she gotten lost? Was she mistaken?
Amaterasu suddenly remembered something the human had said and it suddenly made much more sense.

"Mitsukuni is in M60. Me, M61."

She had gotten their rooms mixed up. It was nothing big, but she felt rather idiotic now. The goddess's head lowered; if her lupine ears had been present, they would have flattened against her skull.

". . . W-was . . . . w-wrong place?"

Whoa! Mori jumped back when Amaterasu snarled and spun around like she was being attacked, unable to hide his surprise. He'd never heard of that behavior in the stories! It was almost feral in a way. An instinctual reaction that was quickly replaced by her more civilized nature as she flushed and stammered out an apology.

Mori relaxed, leaning his makeshift staff against his shoulder again as he bowed to her. She seemed a bit confused and almost...defeated in a way. Kind of like how an animal looked after being scolded. But that was just silly, right? Goddesses didn't have animalistic natures unless they were actually animals.

Shaking his head, Mori motioned up the hallway and took a few steps forward, offering her his arm.

Takashi did not seem to notice her room mix-up. Amaterasu concluded that she had been right to meet here; the human probably just ran into her on his way. He was also quick to shrug off her vicious actions. Rather than scolding her or demanding an explanation, Takashi bowed in respect and made a gesture that Ammy found confusing.

He extended his arm toward her.

The goddess blinked. It took a moment for it to click in her brain, but when she finally understood, she broke out into a smile. Her face still felt hot and her body was trembling from the sudden rush of adrenaline she'd recieved, yet her response was not hindered the slightest bit.
Ammy graciously took the mortal's arm with her own and turned down the hallway where the two of them were originally headed.
