Day 23: Game Room, Evening Shift.

Apr 14, 2007 10:48

Fayt had been doing.. something. For some time, apparently, as he came in during the children shower scenes. Being over the age (yes, despite how he looked), he wasn’t sent there, meaning he had three options. Music Room. Game Room, and Sun Room ( Read more... )

Note: Based on an actual game of Monopoly being played at the same time as these posts

There was something almost endearing about knowing that there was at least one other member besides Roxas that wasn't out to stab him in the neck. Of course the redhead could very well take care of himself, but the less problems he had to deal with the better.

After driving his nurse up the wall by constantly changing his mind of where to go, Axel finally decided to settle down in the Game Room. He wasn't in the mood to indulge himself in a lot of conversation, which was a bit of an irony itself considering that the games given usually took two or more to play with. Well that was fine, he could always pretend to be two people.

In the end he pulled up a Monopoly game and began to set it up on a nearby table.

Speaking of Roxas, he was there too, sitting on the opposite side of the table and helping set things up. They used to play a lot of games of Monopoly back in the Organization. Most of the time, they ended up lasting until some obscure hour of the night because someone kept hanging on by a thread despite the fact there was no way they could possbily win.

...And yet he agreed to play anyways, despite the fact he was probably going to regret it towards the end.

Once everything was set up, he picked the ship out of the plastic playing pieces, and waited for Axel to take his turn.

Axel found it surprising that even now Roxas was willing to dwell on the past and play a few games with him, but he had to smile nonetheless. They set up their pieces in no time and after rolling to see who would go first the redhead proved victorious. After rolling and getting a Get out of Jail Free Card, he watched as the latter rolled his turn.

"... WHAT?"

It was a little amusing to see Axel start off with something so useless that early in the game. Was it foreshadowing something? Only time would tell.

When Roxas rolled, he actually ended up landing on the Chance space like Axel had, except his card was much more useful - Advance to Boardwalk. Which of course, he bought, because you'd have to be an idiot to reject Boardwalk.

Of course Axel was hoping that Roxas was that type of idiot, murmuring something incoherent before rolling the dice. Well at least he was getting some kind of property now, refraining from using his Get out of Jail free as a projectile to cut at the blond's jugular and grinned when his friend lost some of his precious money.

"Owned." And with that he rolled.

"It was only $100," the boy muttered.

And speaking of getting OWNED. The next roll, Roxas somehow ended up with Park Place, which he quickly bought, as that was one of the most money-draining Monopolies ever. Too bad for Axel.

...........

All of a sudden the redhead SNEEZED, his arm flying forward and knocking the pieces off the board and sending their money into a complete disarray.

"Oops, sorry Roxas! I guess we have to start over." And with a grin Axel began to reorganize all the pieces.

Roxas didn't know WHY he hadn't been expecting that. He could never get through a game without SOMEONE cheating somhow, it seemed. Usually the cheating whore liar was Luxord, but it only figured Axel would compensate in his abscence.

"I should punch you for that," he said. But since they really had nothing better to do, he let it slide, and chose another playing piece.

"The game was taking too long anyway. I say we just play a short game so it'll go by faster." Already Axel was idly shuffling the property cards, tossing the both of them a card each and grinning when he got a Monopoly out of it. Of course it was something minute like Baltic and Mediterranean, but it kept other players from having more money for their property each time they passed Go.

"Fine, fine."

Unlike Axel, Roxas didn't get anything useful from it, making him wonder if he had suffled the cards that way on purpose, but he rolled anyway, getting himself a railroad.

"Well you always said you liked being the caboose." Axel chided with a chuckle. So far they were just landing on each other's stuff, which was boring in a way but at least they got money out of it.

"22 dollars. You can buy Sora, like, 4 times with that."

"No, that was the cost of six round-trips on Luxord's mom," Roxas responded, nodding sagely. He was half-expecting the crazed Gambler to jump out of the shadows and strangle him for that, but it would have been well worth it.

Roxas still wasn't close to any monopolies, as the colors were mixed a little too much. He ended up landing on one of Axel's spots and owing the redhead $22, but it was that big of a loss as Roxas still had the most money.

"Here, here." The redhead snorted, also expecting Luxord to jump out and do something dreadful like flipping over their board. Of course the Nurses would probably get to him first before he had a chance to do that so there was no fear of that happening any time soon.

And then Roxas got himself in Jail.

"... Haha, say hi to Bubba for me."

This game clearly hated him. Why did Axel have to go and flip the first one?

...Oh, that's right, because he was losing.

At least Axel got Luxury Tax. That costed more than a jail fine.

"Damnit." Axel cursed and threw the 75 into the middle of the board before rolling again.

And then he landed on Income Tax.

"DAMNIT."

"...Karma sucks, doesn't it."

His next move, Roxas was actually able to buy something instead ofl anding on already-owned proptery.

And then the unthinkable happened. Axel actually landed on Virginia Ave. Usually, it was Roxas who landed there, and was then subject to begging. "ROXAS, GIVE ME YOUR VIRGINIA AVE" and "ROXAS, I'LL PAY YOU TRI-FITTY FOR IT." But no, not this time.

"The world is gonig to end, isn't it," said Roxas.
