Day 23: Shift 2, Sun Room

Apr 08, 2007 17:57

It was true that Lee often talked about youthful spirits and such. Yet he was positively mortified when he heard that he was considered a child here. True, he was of a relatively young age, but with everything that had happened over the years with Orochimaru and so forth seemed to have pushed that to the side. The nurse smiled when she said that it ( Read more... )

Naminé had requested to go to the Sun Room as well, finding it to be an opportunity to get some sleep. Sleep seemed to elude her and she had no tired how tired she was until she entered the room and sat down on one of the couches. It was very comfortable...

But she noticed she wasn't alone. There was another in the room, a boy who seemed confused (well, she thought he was confused). Was he new? She had not seen him before, but she could say that for most of the patients. It seemed like every day a new face would arrive at the institute.

Sleep seemed to win over Naminé's desire to talk, and the girl shifted a little closer to the arm of the couch and starting to doze off.

Getting out of your room as little as Roxas seemed to be lately was enough to exhaust anyone, so despite missing breakfast, it was a pleasant change to be actually walking around some.

At first he moved to talk to Naminé, but noticing she was asleep, he ended up sitting down unobtrusively on the same couch. He considered asking the nurse if he could get some late food, but once he sat down, he really didn't have it in him to get back up. So for now, he just focused his attention on the world outside of the glass.

Who knew? With a little work, maybe he'd actually reach it.

Naminé had been sleeping, somewhat. It was that state of half-sleep, where you were asleep yet slightly aware of your surroundings. At Kairi's loud exclamation, Naminé was promptly jolted out of her sleep. It was out of surprise more than anything, and once she properly identified the voice, she smiled. She did not know Kairi was here... and she was speaking to someone who sounded eerily like her.

But more importantly, Naminé turned her head to find...

"Roxas!" She grinned, suddenly feeling awake. "I haven't seen you for awhile. I thought something might have happened to you."

The Memory Witch felt quite relieved that Roxas was alright. It was unnerving to think that he was possibly hurt or even killed.

Kairi's sudden shouting was enough to startle anyone who wasn't paying attention, but somehow, Roxas managed to avoid jumping. If he listened, that was really wierd - it was like Kairi was having a conversation with herself, by the sound, but if one looked they'd see that wasn't what was happening.

"Yeah, it's been awhile," he agreed. For some reason, whenever he tried to talk to Naminé it always seemed like they were interrupted not two sentences later. It was almost starting to look like someone was setting it up.

"What've you been doing?"

Junior's conversation with Elena hadn't been quite finished when the intercom sounded, but that wasn't quite new. The intercom had wonderful timing that way, conversations were usually left unfinished unless the patients met later in the day.

He hadn't seen Renamon yet, though Junior assumed that she was probably still laid up in her room from the bullet wounds. He wanted to apologize again, but that could be saved for later; and he didn't want to encounter any of his other victims right now, either.

The redhead did, however, have a realian to find; after his exchange with MOMO on the bulletin board, he was anxious to find out just how long she'd been here. If he'd missed her before now, he was gonna be pissed, though from what she said about someone explaining some things, she'd had to have been one of the newer patients. Even in this place, Junior intended to keep his promise. He'd protect her as best he could ( ... )

Once the announcement that ended breakfast was made, MOMO found herself being ushered into the Sun Room. ("It's good to relax after eating such a delicious breakfast." Was what the nurse had said.)

Any protests MOMO might've put up were forgotten once she caught sight of a red-haired boy. And, as soon as she recognized who it was, she smiled. Seeing him in person, as opposed to speaking with him through written notes, was so much better! But...

The smile faded slightly. Even if she didn't want to admit it to herself, she couldn't help but feel apprehensive. If the doctors or whoever could take control of people at night, what stopped them from doing the same during the day?

The realian quickly shook that thought from her mind. Things seemed well enough at the moment, and besides... This was Junior.

"Hi, Junior," MOMO smiled once more as she made her way over to him. "I'm so glad I found you."

Junior also smiled when he spotted MOMO headed his way. Kinda like he'd said to Ashton over the board, it was nice to see someone from home in person, especially her, but there was still that nagging feeling in the back of his mind that this was just wrong. The redhead would have preferred to keep her out of this place if he could.

He jumped down from the couch and seemed to be the opposite of how he sounded on the bulletin board. He didn't want her to worry, and he was sure he'd be in a better mood by the end of the day, so long as it didn't happen again. "Hey, MOMO!" he greeted, his smile widening. "It's great to see you."

He still had a dozen questions he wanted to ask, but for now he was content with the greetings. He hadn't seen such a familiar face in...hell, was it going on a week now? Maybe a couple of days shy of a week. It made the institute feel less strange.

MOMO's smile brightened as he returned the greeting. "It's great to see you, too." That was true. Out of everyone she knew back home, Junior ranked pretty high as far as she was concerned, and she couldn't have been happier if it had been anyone else there instead.

"You doing okay?" she asked, canting her head slightly. Compared to how he had seemed earlier, he appeared to be more like his usual self; which made her feel more at ease. Still, it didn't hurt to ask.

While she could’ve brought up that her mental age was greater than her physical, Raven knew that the nurse’s refusal to listen to her would’ve made it more trouble than it was worth. Without saying anything, or resisting, opted for the Sun Room.

Because she was still, obviously, only a “child”.

On her arrival, Raven noticed how… empty the room was. Only one other person and her roommate were there at the moment. She didn’t want to disturb Namine from her sleep, nor did she feel like socializing with the boy.

She took a seat near one of the room's corners, closed her eyes and began her meditation exercises…

Dayshift was boring. Not that Claire really looked forward to all the creatures of nightshift, but at least she was able to roam free. At least she was able to do something.

Flopping down on an empty couch, she sat with her hands in her lap, staring at some point on the floor and wondering if she should just curl up and get some sleep now.

Kairi had enjoyed talking to Larsa. He was quite the gentleman despite his young look. She had been sad to bid farewell to him, yet she knew she would talk to him again.

When she reached the sunroom, she was surprised to find no one where. Naminé appeared to be sleeping on one empty couch .. and she didn't want to bother her. So instead she headed towards yet another familiar face. The girl she had met last night looked bored. standing a little behind the couch, Kairi smiled. "Hey, Claire!"

Leaning over the couch back to look at the girl, Kairi smiled and waved her hand in an attempt to say hello. "You look like you're having fun."

Claire blinked out of her trance, looking up and recognizing Kairi. A smile bloomed on her face. "Hi! Yes, tons of fun," Claire nodded as though she was serious, although the smile was still clear on her face. "I'm just a one woman party!"

.. Oh god, it was so weird hearing this girl speak in the same exact voice she had! Well, minus the strange accent, of course.

Moving around the couch to flop herself down on it next to the blonde haired girl, Kairi sighed and ran a hand through her coppery hair, looking out a window for a moment before turning back to her new friend. "So. I hope you got at least a little sleep last night? ... Even if it was a bit .. hectic ... "

Morning had cheered her up considerably. Having had pleasant conversation with a former deity was no doubt a rare occurrence, and River was finding herself more inclined to believe what was logically impossible in her own world. Logic dictated that the illogical and fantastic legends that roamed these halls were very real, and that she should come to expect such things rather than wrack her brain trying to understand them ( ... )

Unfortunately for Kadaj, River wasn't put off by a simple insult and an order to be gone. She'd spent quite a bit of time on board Serenity with Jayne to be upset by something simple like that. The sneer, the attitude... Compensation. It was like a puppy trying to growl. A dangerous and unstable puppy. She knew the feeling.

Ignoring his irritated wish for her to leave, River only leaned in a little closer, gazing at him silently for a moment. When she spoke, there wasn't a sense of humor in her quiet voice.

"It's hard for you." He would understand. There was no pity. Only the truth. "Usually it's happy when family comes to visit. You're not happy."
