A split second after the lights clicked off, Taura's flashlight clicked on. She stood up, carefully lacing on her claws in silence. Visitors tomorrow. Would not-Bel be back again, trying to convince her that this was all an elaborate fantasy? That Katherine had wanted to escape so badly she'd stepped outside of her own mind to do so?
It wasn't an unfamiliar concept. No one on Jackson's Whole could be innocent of what happened to people on a planet where humanity was no guarantee of self-ownership. And those of us who don't look human even easier to dismiss. But being someone -- anyone -- else had never appealed to her. Someone more beautiful, someone without a time-bomb in her genetic makeup -- all of those were things she would have liked to be, but never at the cost of being Taura. Even before Miles had given her a name to put on her identity. She'd been Nine, not Katherine Jackson, and she remembered.
Once she was done with her claws and her thoughts, she padded over to the door, silent in her oversized sneakers, and leaned against the door.
"I do believe that's our cue. Shall we be about it?"
Cissnei was finishing off her food when the lights snapped off. She huffed softly, setting down the cutlery immediately and went over to grab the last few things that she needed, rather glad for Taura's flashlight. She grabbed her own flashlight, preferring to have the extra with her even if she never used it. The radio was slipped into her pocket as well, switched on low. After last night, she was curious. She didn't necessarily intend to follow anything that it said, but she wanted to know what was being said. She liked being in the loop.
She inclined her head and grinned at Taura, spinning the shuriken between her fingers. "I think we shall," she agreed as she stepped outside.
[I would move them but I cannot remember at all where they're supposed to be going exactly to meet people ^^;]
Taura instantly pulled ahead, her long legs chewing up tile floor with the appetite of a starving man. She listened; Cissnei was keeping up all right, so she headed out into the main women's hall without another word.
