[from

Even if that were the case, it didn't change his final goal for the night. The magician would have been helpful, but he was confident enough in his own ability to get things done

Don't worry, he quietly told the girl, even though she had no way of hearing, I'll find you. To make up for leaving her behind.
But for now, the task at hand. He couldn't just let the comment about the sword slide, though, especially because he was genuinely shocked. Yuffie had actually given someone something useful? "I didn't realize you had it in you," he told her with a teasing smile. "Where'd you find it?" Chances were she was going to keep the information from him just to be a brat, but he might as well ask just in case.
As for the files, Zack couldn't say he knew much, but if that was what the other two wanted to do, then he had no complaints. "Sure, let's go for it. But... why would Cloud know?" That comment wasn't something he could just let go. He remembered what Anthy had said about the brainwashing -- had Cloud been forced to deal with that?

Unlike you was the unspoken implication. "And I didn't find it," she added. Jerk probably thought she'd keep her lips buttoned out of spite. "I commissioned it. The alchemist disappeared… must've been days ago, now. Sweet kid." Naïve, too, but there was no bite to the thought. The worst could happen to anybody in this dive; Yuffie hoped that Skuld had gotten away light. "You better be grateful, Cloud. The stuff I had to go through to get the metal for that thing? Eugh. Made the slum sewers look like a daisy patch. Well. Smell like a daisy patch."
Rotten sewage and the plumbing job from hell aside, Yuffie remembered that night almost fondly. She'd gotten so much done, and Yukari the Banana Fairy'd been okay for company. Hella fun to tease, of course, like always. And, weirder than weird, they'd actually managed to get along! Kinda! About as well as they ever did, anyway; only maybe better.
"I'm hopin' so," she told Cloud. "If nothing else, they might give us a heads-up for the doctors and the visitors. And if we get lucky with the possessions, we could get our hands on, like, cellphones and stuff. Luck of the draw." Zack's question earned him a slow glance. "Brainwashing," was all she said, before, "c'mon. I know the way." Hopefully.
