Okita had left his meeting with Tenzen with a pleasant feeling. He'd eaten lunch so Ayumu would be pleased with him and he'd potentially gathered a new ally, meaning Homura might be as well. Following lunch, he'd taken to wandering the town, trying to find clues to explain the strange events of last week and to find strongholds should the event repeat itself. He'd been lucky enough to dodge his nurse for the better part of the afternoon, but as he walked and realized there was little to be seen save for painted happy faces and broken windows covered in plywood and the distrusting glares of the townspeople, Okita was ready to move on.
He'd posted a message on the bulletin in the grocery store after meandering its aisles for a bit, occupying himself with marveling at the strange things lined up on the shelves there. After busying himself with trying to decipher the meanings of the metal cans (how did they keep peaches in there and why were the peaches shown to be orange?), Okita realized that the message he'd been hoping for wasn't coming. Not unusual, considering that the store wasn't the most central location and not many came here to check the boards during the field trip. Setting the cans back on the shelves after catching the storekeeper's eye on him, Okita moved on outside. The rain was still coming down enough to get him to pull his hood up, but it wasn't enough to drive him indoors.
At least, not at first.
Soon enough, the rain began to drive down into the ground, making the earth turn muddy and soaking through the jacket hood. Okita spotted his nurse searching for him and he bolted, the hood dropping back from his face as he ran. Even if it meant his hair became heavy with rainwater, at least Mrs. Nosey-Pants Nurse wouldn't catch him. As he reached the end of the main street, he turned back to check on her and she was busy herding patients into a different building.
"Safe for now," he breathed out, stepping up onto a porch to wring the water out of his hair. A glance up at the building identified the small awning he stood under as belonging to the Crossroad's Bar and Casino. It was as good a place as any to rest for a bit, at least until the rain let up. Coughing slightly, Okita leaned his head forward and pulled his hair over his shoulder, squeezing gently to get the water out.
