Day 49: Late Afternoon - Crossroader's Bar and Casino

May 02, 2010 23:20

From what Harvey could tell, he'd gotten through that little encounter with Lana without raising any suspicions. Or if he'd caused her to raise a mental eyebrow, it probably hadn't been in any serious way. She truthfully wasn't so bad to spend time with, but the fact that she was a female attorney who knew her way around and didn't scare easy meant that he couldn't handle being around her for too long.

She seemed to be adapting rather well, though. Harvey had to wonder if her life had been more interesting than she let on.

Splitting off from her had been easy enough, especially when the rain reached torrential levels and the nurses were just doing what they could to herd them in each and every direction. Harvey ended up toward the far side of town, since he'd made note of the bar here on his last trip but had never gotten the chance to actually check it out.

The first thing he thought of when he entered was the swine he'd questioned in a bar not so different from this one. The guy had been the one who'd driven him to that warehouse, and his death had been completely deserved as far as Harvey was concerned. In fact, thinking back on it brought a warped smile to the man's face.

What he wouldn't have done for a drink right now. Even if the alcohol hurt like nothing else, that pain was a good kind. It would beat those protein shakes he'd been forced to rely on for sustenance, in any case.
