Day 49: Intercom, Late Afternoon
The pounding rain had finally caught up to the Institute, but while it was certainly doing a number on the Courtyard's pond and turning the Recreational Field into a veritable marsh, on the first floor of the patient facilities it manifested as no more than some faint pattering on the Sun Room's high glass ceiling.
Unfortunately for the patients, this meant that the audibility of the Head Doctor's precious broadcasting system was still in full force.
"Hello, again, everyone! Eating and working is nice, mm? We'll make sure to have you all multitasking along with everyone else when we're done with you! Aheh..."
He cleared his throat and continued:
"Anyway! We will continue to have fellow new patients filtering in this shift, so I do hope you all get along and aren't too confused on your first day here. Remember, nurses are available for questions and, well... ah! Yes: this shift, our staff will be escorting you to our peaceful Patient Library to help ground you in reality once again and to get you away from this awful weather we've been having.
"And... I think that's it! I hope you are enjoying your stay thus far."
The intercom clicked off.
