Day 23: Dawn

Apr 04, 2007 01:01

It was strange, as if there was no click for the intercom to turn on this morning, as if, perhaps, the Head Doctor hadn't even bothered to turn it off the night before. One might wonder how long such a span of time was; after all, although some rest seemed to grace most members of the Landel's patients before they finally woke up again the next morning, it could just as easily be four hours as it could be four minutes.

The only person who knew was the man who then spoke through the speakers of the PA system, though he didn't seem in much of a mood to talk.

"Good morning, Landel's! We're in a bit of a small crisis over here at the moment--it seems that an unauthorized individual broke through our security measures and masqueraded as a patient yesterday--but nothing to fear! He has been safely apprehended and is currently sitting in one of our solitary confinement cells, waiting to be hauled off to the proper authorities."

He paused, then continued.

"So, I suppose I'll skip right to the breakfast menu, won't I? It seems you'll be treated to something extra-special this morning: Cinnamon rolls! That's right, large, doughy rolls baked in sugary goodness! For those of you who are looking to cut back on the sweets, we of course have healthy granola cereals and toast, and as far as side dishes, we're serving our usual choices of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and hash browns. Our drinks--as always--are water, milk, and assorted juices."

A whisper from his assistant, then a clearing of his throat as he went back to the microphone.

"Well, it seems the proper authorities are here, so I believe that's it for today! Good day, all!"

The intercom clicked off.
