Day 49: Morning - Lil' Tyke Toys

Apr 18, 2010 10:35

[from here]Just like the previous time she came here, Anise found herself gravitating toward the toy store, drawn by the displays in the front window. She already owned one of their prettier dolls, thanks to her doctor, and she was satisfied with that, though she hadn't had a chance to really browse back then. Today, she wanted to get a better look ( Read more... )

There were lots of people in the park, but it looked like Tsubaki already found someone to chat with. Hopefully she hadn't forgotten about their play-date. Feeling a bit neglected, he wandered to the one place he knew would lift his spirits. The toy store. Where aromatherapy and spa treatments worked for some to relieve stress, toy stores, candy shops, and especially bakeries had the same effect on him. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly, glancing at all the fun things to play with.

Surprisingly, there was one other patient who'd had the same thought he had. Or at least could appreciate toys as much as he could.

"Ani-chan!" he said excitedly as he ran over to her side, dragging his own pink stuffed toy in tow. She was holding a cute panda plushie and seemed to be enjoying herself. Maybe they could play together? "I haven't seen you for a while! Oh! Do you like pandas too? They're cute huh!"

At the sound of a familiar voice calling her, Anise looked up to find Honey bounding over to her. A grin spread across the girl's face as she greeted him back. "Honey! Hehe. It has been a while, huh?"

It probably shouldn't have been a surprise to see Honey in a place like this. With his love for cute things and that doll he carried around with him, it was obvious he'd enjoy this kind of stuff. Anise wasn't used to having friends her own age she could share her interests with, so she was kind of glad to be approached by him today.

"Pandas? Is that what you call these?" She brought the odd-looking bear up to her face, studying it curiously. "I've never seen anything like this before, actually."

Seeing Anise smile back was enough reason to brighten his spirits. And toys were something he could definitely get animated about. It was kind of sad that she'd never heard of a panda though! Then again, it probably meant they had all kinds of different animals and creatures in her world too.

"Mm! Panda bears! They're kind of hard to find in real life, but I really like the colors. It makes them look so soft and cuddly," he nodded, reaching out to pat the toy.

"I saw some at the zoo before, but they just sat around and slept a lot," he added matter-of-factly. Though animals were really more Takashi's specialty, he knew a few things about them.

So Earth really did have animals like these... Anise cocked her head as she looked around at the other stuffed toys on the shelves. There were cats and lions and cows and other animals she recognized, but there were several others that she didn't.

"Yeah, they're really cute!" Anise agreed with a nod. "Eheh, it's kinda funny, huh? There are a lot of animals here that you can find on Auldrant, but some of them are totally different." It made her wonder how many of Auldrant's animals would seem strange and foreign to people from Earth. Didn't some people say before that they didn't even know what rappigs were? Not knowing that just seemed bizarre to her.

If there was one store that Porky had regretted that he didn't visit last time, it was the toy store. There was nothing that took him back to his childhood more than just browsing through the colorful wares of a bright, happy toy store. In fact, a toy store was one of the few things that Porky actually valued enough to make a part of the Thunder Tower. Well, technically it wasn't a toy store, but it wouldn't have been any fun if Porky had to buy the toys.

In any case, Lil' Tyke Toys certainly wasn't on a New Pork City scale, but perhaps that wasn't such a bad thing. It had a nice homey feel to it. As Porky stepped into the store, he couldn't help but think back to how he would run around the Twoson department store, grabbing all the toys he could lay his hands on. Ah, those were the days...

Although memories of the zombie nightmare continued to fill Sakura's mind, she was somewhat happy when she woke up and ushered onto a bus for Doyleton. The institute itself became much drier over the course of the rainy and cold week, so it was a nice to have a change of scenery despite the weather conditions. Plus, the trip offered Sakura a chance to sport something other than the ugly institute uniform. Today, the nurse gave her a pink raincoat and matching rainboots in case the weather got any worse ( ... )

"Oh my pork!" Porky yelped when he heard the little girl's voice. He nearly dropped the stuffed pig he had been holding, but instead clutched it even tighter. As his eyes darted around, searching for what had spoken to him, Porky pressed the pig to his chest, almost like a child holding on to his teddy bear for reassurance. Once he spotted the little girl, however, he relaxed.

"Oh, you frightened me..." Porky sighed, "You really should have just tapped me on the shoulder or something. I could have had a heart attack!"

Peh. Idiot. Nearly giving Porky an aneurysm just to find out if he liked toys, too. And what a stupid question! Was there anyone on the earth that didn't like toys? Only a heartless jerk, probably ( ... )
