Once again, Ruby was ready well before her nurse even arrived. The very act of waking up was so incredibly jarring for the demon that just opening her eyes was enough to get her up and moving. Her leg was still stiff as hell, which was obnoxious, but it didn’t bother her quite as much today as it had yesterday. That was good. While getting hurt like a normal person was great for keeping up appearances as the witch-hunting girl next door, the recovery time sucked. The stitches in her thigh still itched like crazy, but that was how it was supposed to go ( ... )

Ruby wasn’t dozing, necessarily, but she’d been doing her best to tune out the bus and all the people on it for the last few minutes while the other patients were being loaded on. She wasn’t terrifically thrilled, then, when a nurse-wearing the same fixed smile as all of the other Landel’s employees she’d met so far-started steering a skinny teenager towards her row and explained that he needed help eating his breakfast. The kid, whose hands were pretty heavily bandaged, looked like he wanted to melt through the floor and die. The nurse didn’t wait for an answer. She was gone before Ruby could even open her mouth to protest.

At least “Tyler” had the good sense not to actually ask Ruby to spoon-feed him. That earned a couple points in his favor. She watched him dig through his bag for a minute before grabbing her own spoon and handing it to him. If they were going to be stuck together, she might as well make some conversation.

“Here, take mine. I’m not really a fan of yogurt anyway. It’s a consistency thing.”

[Brat?]

The night had turned up nothing other than empty hallways and even emptier rooms. The magician had been out, and by the time he'd gotten to Chise's room, she had been gone as well. Kurogane never had the best luck when it came to the nights in this place, but last night had been particularly bad when it came to getting things done. He hadn't made any progress, hadn't managed to keep either the magician or Chise from going off, likely on their own, and hadn't even gotten past the main hallways when morning came.

So when the nurse came in with her cheerful self, Kurogane couldn't help the sour glare he gave her.

"None of that now, Mr. Cross," she told him as she placed a new outfit on the desk for him, "You're going to town today regardless of your mood, and you had best behave this time! Now here are your clothes, and I expect you to have them on without any complaint." With that she left the room to see to other patients.

The black shirt, faded jeans and jacket got no better of a look than the nurse, but Kurogane did put ( ... )

Oooh, goody. Company.

"Might wanna ignore her on this one," Yuffie commented, eyes slit half-open and unfocused. For your own safety, she added without saying. Except it wasn't safety; more like 'sanitary'. Or something like that, anyway. Most people, she'd found, didn't like getting sicked up on. Or sicked up near. Yuffie'd gotten pretty lucky these past few weeks, as far as Vomitopia went; she usually managed to avoid it right up until she bolted off the bus, and sometimes, when karma (because clearly she was an awesome person and deserved a break) was on her side, even managed to avoid it entirely. Still, better safe than sorry.

Finally, because she could never resist temptation and because, hey, they were sat right there and she was a ninja, not an idiot, Yuffie flicked a quick, assessing glance out of the corner of her eye. And then she did a double-take.

"Oh, gawd," she groaned. "It's you ( ... )

"Quite now, Hanna," the nurse shushed her with a similar, if gentler warning, "The company will be good. For the both of you." Mr. Cross always did seem to do slightly better when around the opposite gender. Or at the very least, he was much less violent ( ... )

"Yeah, right," Yuffie snorted, as though the nurse had suggested that she grab a live Tonberry, put it on her lap, and make best pals. It was about fifty five shades of not going to happen, with a cherry on top.

She watched the drama play out between the grouch and the nurse, brown eyes glinting. It'd have been hella cool if the dude'd taken sedation over sitting next to her, but no such luck. Back he came, like a puppy to heel. Yuffie huffed a laugh, turning to peer back out of the window. The sky was dim and angry, churned up like sloppy cement, and there was no sign of any of her friends so far. No sign of Sen, either. Yuffie tipped her head, torn between a frown and a sharp smile. The smile won.

Good.

It occurred to her that she was jumping to conclusions, that maybe, just maybe, the cloud to this silver lining answered to the name Psychobitch Okita back and ready for action, but Yuffie couldn't bring herself to be sorry. If Sen was gone, good riddance ( ... )

Tifa wasn't feeling all that awesome today. Staying up all night drinking with a former enemy wasn't the smartest idea she'd had. At least she didn't have a hang over, which was rather strange. Though maybe there just hadn't been enough booze to split between them for that unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately. Well, meh, both. She'd take one for the team if it meant having a great night before.

So she sat in a seat alone, doing her best to look welcoming despite feeling under the weather and, more importantly, keep her legs together while she waited for the rest of the patients to board. The brunette was happy her passive aggressive hints won her a skirt for the field trip. The only problem was it was denim and about a size or two too small. The hoodie did its part to hide the slight muffin top that resulted though, but she still wasn't sure what a "panda" or "Chinese" was. Her nurse said it suited her so Tifa supposed that was good.

[For Badou~]

I am the night. Badou thought dryly. The nurse had actually apologized with something that wasn't quite sadistic glee for handing him an outfit...that was entirely black. Because the black was obviously the biggest problem and not the dainty fucking ears and the enormous white stain on his pant leg that he hoped was bleach. (The kind of bleach some freaky fetishists probably used to wash away the sin.)

Every day, Badou's life found a way to suck just a little bit more. But at least he was alive, right? Even if someone had jizzed on his pants. Maybe it would be the worst thing that happened today.

He made his way onto the bus, ready to throw himself into the first empty bus seat he found and maybe sleep the ride away in case he was up late fighting zombies again. That was when he saw her. Like the centrefold of Busty why-the-hell-are-you-still-looking-the-title. Badou had enough practice with rejection to know two things. 1) He had no chance in seven hells even if she was blind and 2) his eye should stay well above the neckline if he ( ... )

"Ah--?" Tifa lifted her head, her usual welcoming expression turning blank after that strange introduction. Brown eyes locked on Badou's eye patch first before traveling down all the black and back up to the unusual cat ears that were attached to his hood.

It was pathetically cute.

"Oh!" She humored him and lifted herself off the seat to look around at the growing crowd of patients. "Let's see... Oh, that guy looks burly!" A finger pointed to a sour-looking man with a turtle neck and a jacket. "And those two..." She motioned towards Cloud and Zack, nodding confidently. "They can tear ass up..." The rest were mostly women and a few men that looked skinnier than her. Ugh, that just made her feel like shit. "But that's only if you touch mine, so I think you'll be okay to sit..." Not that she needed male intervention in her personal affairs. This guy would find that out soon enough if he tried anything.

"I'm Tifa..." She extended her hand, happy to add another person to her small group of friends in the institution.

Though there was some sense of satisfaction to the night before, Mihai couldn't help but wonder if there wasn't more they could've accomplished before night came to an end. At least they had a few more nights--and with luck, one of those would let them arrive at the office first. Practice would allow the defensive movements to become reflexive, and speed would ultimately be what saved Badou's life.

He hoped. Mihai sat up in bed slowly, trying not to think about all those unknown factors that he naturally considered as an assassin. His nurse apparently decided to help with that, as she shortly entered the room with a bundle of clothes in hand. They were dumped unceremoniously at the foot of Mihai's bed, delivered with the surly demand to get dressed before the nurse left the room. The woman was clearly in a fine mood.

"Is this because of the shower incident yesterday?" Mihai was just pulling the green shirt over his head when the nurse returned. "Because I apo ( ... )

It was always difficult to find something long enough for Brook to wear during these trips, and this one was no different. His pants only went so far as the middle of his calf, allowing his ankles (and socks) to show, and his dull purple shirt was just barely long enough to reach his waistline. Brook did not mind however, either his clothing or the weather, as nothing would dampen his mood when it came to the weekly field trip. It was nice to have the small break in routine, even if it was still a routine part of that routine. But again, nothing to dampen!

Having to duck his way onto the bus, he looked for someone to have a seat with to make the trip there a little more enjoyable. He found an older gentleman sitting by himself and ducked even lower in a small bow as he spoke, "Good morning! Would you mind if I had a seat with you?"

Unlike breakfast in the cafeteria, Brook asked before taking a seat on the bus. People could easily push him into the aisle if they didn't want him there. That wasn't something he wanted while in a moving

Wait. It was morning again? Why was it morning? Where had the night gone? Cloud wanted to ask his nurse about it, but knew he wouldn't get any decent answers. As far as she was concerned, he was supposed to sleep the night away. Some leader he was. He'd probably get a tongue-lashing from Yuffie at the very least. He couldn't believe he'd just slept...

There was something new about this morning, though. His nurse came in with a change of clothes much different from the usual uniform and the name 'Doyleton' came up more than once. Hadn't Yuffie mentioned the town already? So this could be dangerous territory they were being taken into now. He needed to get a hold of the others as soon as possible. For now, he'd allow the nurse to dress him up as long as it wasn't something too girly ( ... )

While Zack had been through the whole night-suddenly-becoming-morning thing three times now, this was the first time that he'd been pulled out of the middle of a fight. The transition was jarring, and he sat up in his bed as if he'd just been ordered out of it by Angeal. Cringing at the memory for a few reasons, the soldier then pulled himself out of the sheets, completely awake.

In the end, they hadn't been able to make it to any of the challenges that Aidou had told him about. It was a letdown, but it seemed like one of the biggest issues in this place was that fight against the clock. He'd just have to be even faster and more efficient in the future. It was something to keep in mind. Seeing how his previous imprisonment had consisted of being in a suspended tube of mako for four years, what he had to work with here was worlds better.

Zack had forgotten about the field trip until a nurse came into his room with a change of clothes that wasn't the normal uniform. He pulled on a pair of dark jeans, a purple long-sleeved shirt, and ( ... )

At Zack's arrival and comment, Cloud turned and just looked at him. "Thanks for reminding me." He held his bag out so it was practically under the SOLDIER's nose. At least he was sitting with someone who'd put up with him and might not throw a fit if he somehow managed to upheave any remnants of last night's dinner into his lap. "Here. Though I can't promise I won't want the bag back later." Without the contents, of course. Though the bag might be too flimsy to be of much use ( ... )

When the bag was shoved in his face, Zack blinked before taking it from his friend. Right, food wasn't really the best thing to give to someone who had motion sickness issues. He had to admit that he was a little surprised Cloud still suffered from it, all these years later, but it probably wasn't something you just grew out of. On the other hand, he wasn't sure if he could eat two bags of food, and so he set one of them down on the floor near his feet for the moment ( ... )
