Nightshift 48: F13 [CLINIC]

Mar 29, 2010 21:35

Without anyone scheduled to be looked at as soon as night started, Raine could set up at leisure; she took out what was likely to be needed if someone came in in critical condition, and left the rest in her open wardrobe. Unpredictability was a way of life here, but the fact that she could do so little planning still bothered her ( Read more... )

Soma paused in front of the door, shifting her spear to her left hand and checking to make sure the handgun was mostly out of sight and the safety on. If this wasn't the clinic, it wouldn't do to appear threatening.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked and waited.

Raine looked up; she kept the door open so people wouldn't think they were interrupting anything, and when she was sitting at her desk she could see into the hall well enough. "Yes?" She didn't recognize the woman, but that wasn't unusual.

Fortunately, she didn't see the handgun, or she definitely would have been nervous; if anyone ever tried to hurt her when she was alone, she would likely have difficulty fighting back.

Soma kept her back straight and her face in its default, slightly serious expression. The woman in the room had hair the color of her own, but her eyes were off: not a supersoldier, then. She resisted the urge to shift her feet. That was unprofessional.

"Is this the St. Francis Aid Society?" There appeared to be some basic medical supplies present, but it was always best to confirm what she thought she knew.

"It is," Raine confirmed, looking the woman over. She didn't appear hurt, but that might only mean it was an internal injury.

"Did you need something?" Hopefully she was here to help out; it was possible.

The open door and the woman waiting inside confirmed that she had arrived at the right place with Depth Charge, but Hime knocked nonetheless before entering.

"This is the clinic, correct?" asked the Royal as she stood at the doorway. No one was bleeding (yet) so they could afford some manners.

When Raine heard people approaching, she hoped Reinforce was finally on her way; when she saw who had arrived instead, she managed to keep her worry hidden. "Yes, it is." Judging from how the girl and her companion looked, they weren't just going to be asking for a bandage.

"What do you need?"

Ah. Room numbers. Right. Depth Charge's expression flickered only for a moment- it shouldn't really have surprised him that she trusted him enough to tell him, considering that most of the people who hid their room numbers were cagey whackjobs with something to hide- before he answered. "M42. Don't go breaking down my door any time I don't show."

At least Hime had her directions down, anyway; the trip to the clinic was mercifully short, and his pain threshold had only just been brushed by the time she opened the door. There was only one person in the room he noted, leaning into the door frame for support while he struggled to catch his breath, but he was hardly in the frame of mind to care.

"According to the princess here-" he said, jerking his thumb towards Hime, "- I broke a rib or two. Got anything for that?"

Hime couldn't guarantee she'd follow his request, but she made a note to knock first if it ever came up.

"We encountered what I can only assume was a brainwashed patient out on the recreational field," explained the Royal, "who kicked him in the chest rather hard." She did not mention anything about her own injury, a swollen and reddening cheek where she'd been backhanded, but ended up unintentionally drawing attention to it when she reached up to wipe away some of the blood from the split corner of her lips that was starting to trickle once more. It wasn't exactly something that require immediate treatment, so she would rather that the broken bones be seen to first.
