[In M71]And Brainy was sleeping in tonight. Again. Peter almost got worried until he remembered that generally, that's what people did when it got all dark outside

Dinner passed in almost eerie silence. Badou tried not to think of it as a mourning period for the smokes he might lose to Mihai later tonight and spent the shift going over his notes and copying out an extra set of maps because it made him feel slightly productive. With everything going off the deep end lately, he'd been pretty lax about flexing his investigative skills. He should look up Renamon. Deal with business. He hadn't resigned himself to spending his life in this dump as Makiko's favourite tootsie pop or, well, the smartass canon fodder

[ From here. And you totally didn't see me post with the wrong account.]
M74. Mihai silently noted the number as he followed Badou inside, continuing the no-talking trend that had stretched on for several minutes now. Though Badou tried to play things cool regarding Artemis, his worry had been obvious. Mihai doubted the attempt had been for impression, however; he knew the other man too well by now. Badou was trying to keep his own stability, especially since there was more to come. Artemis's situation, as said, was the simple one

After closing the door behind them, Badou leaned against the edge of his desk. He still felt like a moron for spilling his guts to Peter yesterday, but he hadn't exactly been -- stable. This was different. His fingers closed and re-closed on the edge of the desk.
"Makiko." He replied soon after Mihai broke the silence. Frustration bled into his voice despite the mellow haze of cigarette smoke. "She's a doctor here. For some reason she really has it in for me. She's a hell of a lot stronger than she should be. Fast. Fucking insane. She'll probably kill me once she gets bored of scaring the fucking shit out of me or killing off anyone who talks to me."
"The problem is, I can't touch her. Can't get weapons into her office, can't take her on one-on-one, can't even leave anything in there. I set the place on fire and it was fine the next morning." He shook his head and spread his arms in a helpless gesture. "I need your help old man. I'll even pay you this time around." Pause. "Eventually. Can I just start a tab?"
Makiko. The woman's name hung in the air with an infamy Mihai would've reserved for some mob bosses, the way Badou said it. And apparently it was deserved; Mihai had heard enough tales of unfortunate encounters in alleyways to recognize the fear that followed. Except this was worse, because like Badou said, he couldn't adequately prepare for what was to come

He was going over that wall tonight. Hanging around here had been fun, sure, but there was a whole big world of the future for Carter to see and he was just going to go out and see it. Landel could keep his miserable little place--Carter could go for help, too, he could go find whereever the American army and the police and the Galactic Soldiers and the VUX kept their people and he'd bring them back and bring this place down and free everyone.
Yes. That would do it. Carter could be a big hero for going and bringing back help. He knew how prisons worked, hadn't he gotten enough experience escaping from them?
Once again, "Soubi" hadn't done a single thing. In fact, he had just seemed to be sleeping for the entire dinner shift and a good chunk of nighshift, as well. If he was an assassin, he wasn't very good at his job. Either that,or he was waiting for Bucciarati to leave himself exposed. In any event, his methods were rather...bizarre.
Taking one last look back at Soubi, Bucciarati grabbed his flashlight, clicked it on, and slowly left his room. After all, he had a meeting with someone.
Bucciarati froze as he crossed the threshold and slowly turned to face "Soubi."
"Oh, you've been out for a while," Bucciarati said, his voice completely neutral, "But I'm glad to see you're finally awake. I've had something I've been wanting to ask you for a while now."
After he had finished speaking, Bucciarati slowly closed the door and began walking towards Soubi, stopping when he was about two feet away. He summoned Sticky Fingers to his side, having the stand merely hover in place. What happened next was up to Soubi. He could either tell the truth, or Bucciarati could force it out of him.
"Now I want you to tell me everything you know about me." Bucciarati said quietly, "We can do this the easy way or the hard way, and I hope that it's the easy way. Then again, it's not up to me. Your choices will determine how this plays out."
Soubi was up, getting ready to head out. He was late. What if Ritsuka ran off without him? He turned, however, when the roommate continued speaking. He frowned and waited. Not for long, though. Some small....child thing appeared out of nowhere and he shot back so fast he hit the bed and almost fell onto it.
"What? Know about you?" he asked, bewildered, tearing his eyes away from the....thing. "Clearly I don't know anything."
The murder was solved (or was as solved as it was going to get, anyway), so now what? Having an actual focus again had been nice, but now that their little project was completed Shinichi found himself at a loss for what to do next. He still wasn't completely sure where he stood with Heiji anymore. He'd messed things up pretty badly yesterday, after all, and even after their little heart-to-heart, he wasn't certain that they'd go back to being bosom buddies.
At any rate, he didn't want to push his luck.
So Shinichi decided he was going to spend the night on his own.
As for what that actually meant...who knew? He wasn't wildly fond of the idea of going it alone, especially not after what had happened last time, but the idea of just spending it all inside his room didn't sit well with him either. Maybe if he just stayed close to the patient blocks, he'd be okay.
