here. )Bella couldn't help but slow to a walk when she continued down the hall, her eyes wandering as she looked around a part of the institute that she had never been through before. Of course, she really hadn't seen much of the place; she had only been there for a few days, and both of the nights had been spent doing things, so there was

She was just retracing her steps now, but with every step, Bella could feel herself growing confident in her ability to wander around alone at night. Of course, she was sure that it would never happen again and that she was going to be grounded, but that didn't stop her from feeling that surge of pride anyway.

Chekov followed obediently behind Captain Kirk, occasionally looking around the hallway and making small adjustments to his map (length approximations, notes on any markings on the walls, guesses on measurements and so forth). Though his face was more or less buried in his map and note-taking, he seemed to be able to keep up with the Captain rather easily.
He looked to his right when they arrived at the first stairwell, then back at the Captain. "Zis one, sir? Zere is another at ze end of zis hallway."

When Peter paused for a moment, the demon struck. It ran faster than before, lunging and stabbing forward with its massive weapon. The huge pronged blades buried themselves into the wall, and if the demon had its way, they'd be right around Peter's neck, pinning him to the wall. He had run for so long, but all that had done, in the end, was make the hunger even more insatiable.

If he was caught here now, bleeding and worn down, then there really was no way for him to stop any further attacks. Peter couldn't sense any of his friend left in this creature, but all he could fall back on now was trying to reason with the beast in the small hope that Roland would hear.
What he was going to do if that didn't work was a mystery to Peter, and so he did his best to not even think about it.
"Roland," he gasped, wincing both at the trapped feeling and the pain that was starting to return to his arm, "it's... it's me." His chest heaved with insufficient breaths and he pulled his good arm up to grab one of the prongs of the weapon in hopes of dislodging it. He ( ... )

Bad situation, bad situation, bad situation. Shit. The monster was one thing (and she guessed she had Hitsugaya's answer, it wasn't just stuck to the town), the guy was one thing, but the guy trapped like that added a sense of urgency overpowering everything else. Whoever the guy was, he seemed to be trying to talk to it, but that... No. That thing, she knew, wouldn't hear reason.
There was fear here; it had been unimaginably fast before, strong, powerful, and she couldn't protect her friends the way she had wanted. But here... At least, she could maybe distract it enough for the guy to run. He shouldn't have to deal with this. Shit, she shouldn't have to deal with this. But she wasn't alone. And she had to rely on her friends, even as she had to rely on herself to protect them. Nothing too big a job, right? Fuck.
With a yell, Senna jumped up into the air, using the momentum to add force to the strike to the creature's back.

Neku led the way, running briskly through the main hallway, flashlight at the ready. He wasn't sure what all he could actually do with the thing if they got attacked, but they might have to stick with running away if anything happened. Whatever this Jill was offering, it better be good if they were going to waste a night going after it.
He skidded to a halt when he caught sight of a fight further down the hall. A really nasty looking monster was being fought off by about three patients with makeshift weapons. Neku stuck close to the wall and out of sight, skirting toward the staircase.
"What the hell is that?" he hissed under his breath.

A bit of classic Joshua understatement there, but this was more Neku's deal than Joshua's. He still wanted to see how Neku worked, how he thought, whether he was the right one or not. So many things could change in such a short amount of time... and ah, he wished he could spare more attention to Leonard, but at the moment, flesh-eating monsters took precedence.

"Sparky?" Leonard asked incredulously, unable to believe this kid could be so nonchalant about the whole situation. "There's a fucking monster in the hall and you're telling me it's got a name?"

"Yeah and yeah," Neku replied abruptly, "but I don't think it's gonna want to pose for your photo album. Hit the stairs, we gotta make tracks unless you feel up to taking that on." Neku could quite easily say that he did not. Not without pins and not without something more than a lame little flashlight in his hand.
