Day 47: Sun Room [4th Shift]

[For Yuna!Fish and chips weren't his favorite thing ever, but he did make sure to eat it all. He just liked to think of the fish as the Filet'o Fish without the bun and it made it easier to eat. The french fries had been pretty well cleaned off and he'd even managed a bit of fruit, although he avoided the oranges and other sour things his nurse ( Read more... )

When the nurse told him that next shift he'd be in the greenhouse working with plants, Raphael had answered along the lines of 'screw that' and the conversation had quickly degenerated into another argument. About the only reason Raph didn't give in and take a swing at her like he really wanted to was because he could see the couple of orderlies keeping an eye on him and the last thing he wanted was to spend another day out of it. Luckily the nurse mentioned something about the sun room instead, and Raph jumped at the chance. Anything was better than messing around with a bunch of plants in his book.

So the nurse led the way and, spotting another patient sitting on her own, indicated Raph should join the woman. Something about the nurse's tight-lipped smile and how she commented they'd 'be perfect for each other' clued him in that something was going on, but he figured if it did turn out to be another way of screwing with him, he could always leave.

So Raphael threw himself down in a chair and directed an annoyed look at the nurse until she left, before glancing in apparent boredom at the woman close by. "So, what did you do to piss them off?"

"Today or in general?" came the reply.

Falis took in the man that had been harried by the vultures to join her. He wasn't one she was familiar with, but that was probably for the best. It meant he probably didn't know anything about 'Rose'.

With a bit of a smirk, she pointed out a pair of orderlies off to the side that were keeping an eye on their little meeting. "See those two? They tend to follow me around. Got a name, or do I get to make one up for you?"

Raphael snorted, a smirk replacing the bored look that had been there a moment ago. "Both," he answered, though he wasn't sure if the question was rhetorical. If not, it might be interesting to hear about.

Like the bit about the orderlies, though maybe not for the reasons she thought it was. "Is that all?" he asked, shooting a disinterested look at the orderlies. "Thought everyone got 'em. Least I got some too. Figure I may as well ignore 'em, since it ain't like they fight fair or anythin'." If they had, he wouldn't have been wasting this much time playing along with their stupid routine after all.

"Name's Raphael. You got one?"

"Nah, getting your own pair of matching meatheads means you're special and they think you're dangerous, which is absolutely correct," Falis replied. "Though I'm surprised they only have the two following me around. You think they'd have learned already that's not enough," she added on with an unconcerned shrug.

"I've got a really long name with titles and shit, but you don't look like the kind of guy that gives a damn about that, so I'll stick to the short version - Alita. Having fun irritating the vultures?"

Great. Leo would have been thrilled to learn Raph had apparently been earmarked as dangerous after only a few days here. And even Raph could admit that it wasn't exactly good ninja tactics to have that kind of rep, even if he did have a habit of letting his temper get the better of him more often than not.

"Why'd you want more 'en that?" he asked, directing a dark look at the orderlies before glancing back at Alita. "Seems like it ain't such a great thing."

That aside, he had to admit that he was curious about what Alita might have done to get that kind of attention. He doubted he was the only one who'd started a few fights and other things. "So, how come they're that interested in you anyway? Got a rep?"

Falis laughed. "Oh, I don't want any more following me around, but considering two ain't enough to pin me down when I really get going, they'd be smart to have more than just those two. I find it funny."

Did Falis have a rep? Hell fucking yeah, she did, though most of the patients that were around when she killed that alien thing a couple weeks back were gone, so she really only had her rep with the vultures. "Got into a couple fights, broke a nurse's wrist. Solitary is really fucking boring, by the way."

Raphael smirked. Sounded like some of the stuff he'd been going through, though at least he'd managed to avoid solitary. He'd had enough of being grounded back home to figure how boring and frustrating the experience would be.

"Fights with just the nurses or others?" he asked curiously. "'Cause I got in a few of those myself."

"Both," Falis replied. "Though it's been a while since I got into it with another patient. Not that I'm looking to." She shrugged. "So mostly the vultures."

The hunter tilted her head. "Getting into a decent number of fights either way get's their attention. My suggestion would be to simmer down some. The more you fight, the more they up the amount of poison they stick in you. Finding yourself still poisoned when the night falls is just asking to be an easy target."
