Heh, tonight was promising to be kind of interesting. First time in awhile, it seemed like, for which Xigbar was far too happy to give things a shot. That in mind, he stripped off that aggravating gray shirt and started grabbing his weapons, making sure that they were all okay. Three knives lashed to his ankles, three arrows tied around his waist,

And as usual, Mori rounded the corner of the hall and made the short trip to pick up his cousin. His mind was still heavy with the worries he had from earlier, but he tried to push them away as he approached Mitsukuni's door. They were close enough that Mitsukuni could be affected by Mori's moods and the last thing Mori wanted to do was upset him right now.
Moving up to the door, he knocked lightly on it and then pushed it open. Mitsukuni was waiting for him as he expected and the taller boy smiled. First order of business was the cake in his hands and Mori moved forward, holding the plate out to his cousin.

As his cousin ate, Mori pondered what he said, giving him a thumbs up to indicate that he was back to his usual healthy self. The Cake Club again was missing members, the spices were no longer an issue, and helping people was a possibility. But helping people might mean going toward Tamaki and then Mitsukuni would realize that their friend was gone. There had to be something else they could do, somewhere else to go that wouldn't reveal Tamaki's disappearance.
They still needed to repay Leon for his services, right? The catboy alchemist with ears that were actually real had given them his own metal to make the shuriken, and Mori felt a debt of gratitude to him. Maybe if they made something for him to eat to help him regain his strength after his sessions and brought him ( ... )

But as usual, Takashi was right. Leon had done them a huge service last night and they hadn't so much as brought him a scrap of metal. They definitely needed to repay him for being so nice. A treat was of course the first thing that came to Honey's mind and the kitchen did have metal they could collect to make up for what they'd used. Probably a lot easier to get than pulling soggy pipes out of the walls too. At least he sure hoped so ( ... )

There was no reason to make himself a nuisance during him roommate's meeting with his cousin, however, so after he'd changed and equipped himself he nodded a farewell to the smaller teen and walked out the door. He would wait just out in the hall where he could be seen easily but would still have the option of returning to the room should something dangerous make an appearance.

When Shikamaru spotted the slender figure at the end of the hallway (Sai's stomach was practically luminous at night...what was whoever dressed him thinking?), the force of relief was unexpectedly strong. He took a long breath, reminding himself that this was no different than normal, especially if Kakashi wasn't there. The other ninja's absence suggested a level of trust...that is, assuming Sai was waiting for him.
"Hey," he greeted with a shrug, as if the meeting had been entirely by chance. Recently, parts of Shikamaru's demeanor seemed to subtly shift, as if he was controlled by routine rather than actual nature. He was natural enough when he leaned against the wall, arms crossed, but the next statement was very mildly uncomfortable. "I slept through fourth shift," he said, knowing it wouldn't be a surprise, "so I missed the bulletin. We're supposed to do something together?"

In all honesty, Sai wasn't completely certain on the details of their mission, but Shikamaru would surely know. "Kakashi-san said: 'we still need to thank our toymaker properly.' That is all we were given as instruction."
The pale ninja shifted his stance, one hand resting on the machete held to his waist by a knotted long-sleeved shirt, head tilted. "I assure you I am in a state of mind capable of performing the mission adequately tonight."

After all, his first night there with Sasuke had involved being attacked by rodents of an unusual size. Honestly, there wasn't anywhere in the Institute that could be considered safer than anywhere else unless one counted the patient rooms. Any metal found there would be stealing from others.
"There's a small amount of metal to be found in the janitor's closet or the general storage on the second floor, but that ma become more trouble and is bound to be picked over by others before we

"We're both armed," he said, thinking out loud, "so unless something goes wrong, we should be able to handle danger." They were, after all, trained ninja. "Which shed, the one in the courtyard? Yeah, if there are too many birds, we could lock ourselves in the shed once we got there." Although he was a target for the creatures, he preferred the birds to the less predictable monsters in the institute. At least he knew what to expect. "Climbing over the wall's the best way to reach it, right?" The only other route would take them through, well, pretty much everything they were better off avoiding.
Shikamaru hadn't been outside during night, and when he was permitted outside during the day, his concentration was usually directed skyward.

He didn't take a seat, merely watched Shikamaru. "It's located on the other side of the building, but just getting down the main hallway and out the side door shouldn't be a problem." Unless, of course, there was a brainwashed patient guarding that end of the hall as there had been with Itachi that one night. "However, if you'd still prefer the courtyard, we can work our way toward that as well." It could even be reached through the path to the greenhouse.
