Night 46: West Wing, North Hallway 1-A

Jan 02, 2010 15:40

[from here]It looked like Junpei was the first to arrive as there was no sign of a hot pink-haired flesh-eating babe. Leaning against the wall by the door that lead outside, he sighed and tilted his head back. What was he doing? Why were his senpai gone when he so very much needed them to tell him what he should really be doing ( Read more... )

Finally, the second door. If the maps were right, this was where Toshiro's room was, or at least where he'd asked her to drop off the supplies. Bridget's would probably have to wait until tomorrow, but hopefully this was enough for them to make due. She saw one other person in the hall, but he seemed to be just leaning against a wall waiting for someone. She hoped he was careful. This place could be terribly dangerous, even so close to their rooms.

As von Karma marched south through the length of this hall, he looked around him to ensure that there were no hidden dangers lurking about. There were still only the young man leaning against the wall and the young woman standing nearby. He made the pretense of ignoring them both as he slipped past.

Maintaining a brisk pace, he walked through the large, open doorway then continued to the intersection at the south end of this hall. Though no one else seemed to be present, he still kept an eye out for potential threats.

The hallways were always so quiet at this time of night. If it weren't for the fact that he could see someone waiting here already he could have sworn the place was standing empty. A ghost hospital. Only it was already one of those anyway.

Kibitoshin shivered. Just so long as he kept moving he could focus on the gentle pounding of his footsteps, and the more he thought about that, the less room there would be in his head for other, less innocent ideas. By the galaxy, he hated this place.

So he had beaten Claude.

Guy took a careful glance around the area just to make sure, but it was pretty obvious that there was no one around but him. He could hear faint noises from further down, but he knew his friend wouldn't have strayed too far from the door he'd just come out of.

Knowing that there was no point in getting restless, Guy set the meat cleaver down on the floor so that he didn't have to stand around holding all three items so awkwardly, and then waited patiently for Claude to show up. He knew he shouldn't worry so much about what Luke might be getting himself into, but some habits died hard.

He was probably a few minutes late since he had to take some extra time to put on his uniform earlier. Part of him was hoping he'd made it here first after all, but he paused once he caught sight of his friend waiting for him. "Hey, there," he said as he approached him with a small smile. "I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long."

Not only would it have been rude, but it was dangerous to stick around in one place for too long. One of the reasons he'd wanted to accompany Guy to Luke's room was because he hadn't wanted him to get into trouble while he was either aching from his wounds or dealing with a slow reaction time from medicine. It'd do no good to act as more of a hindrance than a help to his friend after getting him to agree to having him along.

He glanced toward the meat cleaver on the floor, noting that Guy hadn't had any problems finding it. It was kind of funny to think that the daytime staff never seemed to find all that stuff, but maybe it was arranged that way on purpose.

Relieved to see that Claude had made it out here without too much of a delay, Guy returned the smile as he watched the other man walk up to him. He shook his head when Claude expressed his concern; it really hadn't been that long, even if it had felt like it to him. Guy was aware enough to know that time could feel like it was stretching when he was worried about someone, particularly Luke.

Tucking his flashlight under his arm again, Guy bent down to pick up the meat cleaver and then straightened up. It was still awkward to be holding two weapons and his light all at once, but they didn't have too far to travel.

"Thanks again for coming with me," he said after a moment. Guy still wasn't sure what he'd be doing with his night, but he was certain he'd figure it out when he met up with Luke. Knowing his friend, he'd probably already conjured up a number of ideas by now.

"Ready to go?" he asked, doing his best to keep his tone neutral rather than rushed. There was really no reason to feel so anxious.

He was about to offer to carry something for Guy, but it looked like he had everything under control. Not to mention he didn't want to look like he didn't trust Guy to handle things on his own, particularly after he'd insisted on escorting him around like this. Really, he was being a good sport about the whole thing, considering that Claude might have been kind of embarrassed if their positions had been reversed.

"Hey, don't mention it," Claude told him brightly when Guy thanked him. That was what friends were for, right? He liked to think Guy would have been willing to do the same for him, at any rate.

Either way, he was probably anxious to get a move on, so Claude didn't want to keep him any further. "Yeah, I'm ready," he said. With that, he turned and kept walking down the hall.

As expected, Harvey didn't get what he wanted. Jason was nowhere to be found. There was just some blond man standing nearby and looking as if he was waiting for someone. At least he wasn't the only one, but that was a pretty meager consolation prize.

The man was going to be beyond irritated if it turned out Jason had gotten into another pointless fight with his roommate. He tightened his grip on his pipe and looked around the area, just wondering when a monster might come along and decide he had been loitering for too long. He didn't get as nervous when he stayed on the move, but waiting around like this grated at him.

Maybe he'd waste some time in his room before heading out next time. That might ensure that Jason beat him here. It was a petty thought, but still worth some consideration. On the other hand, why would he want to spend any more time with Lunge than necessary?

It looked like he was caught between a rock and a hard place. What else was new?

This hallway--the last before he'd hit open air--contained a handful of others, mostly people Indy didn't know. The only one he recognized was Dent. He was looking around warily and clutching a pipe, which in Indy's view were both pretty damn sensible things to be doing. Indy approached with the light and spoke as soon as he got within range, just to make sure nobody jumped the gun and decided to introduce the pipe to his skull.

"Evening. Waiting for someone?" he asked, just in passing. He'd stopped moving, but he only planned on sticking around long enough to exchange a few pleasantries--if that was the word for a conversation with Dent. Indy hadn't forgotten his earlier thoughts as to whether Dent would be a useful guy to have around out there, but he doubted the guy would jump at the prospect of poking around at some abandoned buildings. He didn't seem like the type.

Having heard the voice before actually seeing the other man, Harvey had startled -- but only slightly. He knew he could be set off pretty easily these days, but he at least had enough of a hold on himself to not wildly swing at a disembodied voice. Besides, this one was familiar ( ... )

Dent was giving the clothes the once-over, not that Indy could blame him. The fedora and leather jacket probably did look pretty strange to anyone who wasn't familiar with him, especially here. Well, he thought--maybe slightly defensively--they worked just fine for him.

He shook his head. "Wasn't planning on it. I'm headed out to those ruins in the woods, and I didn't have too much trouble the last time I was there." Which was also the only time he'd been there, which amounted to the flimsiest data set he'd ever tried to justify doing something potentially stupid with. Well, one of the flimsiest data sets.

Now that he thought about it, it'd taken him a couple minutes to get dressed and make his way this far, and the halls had already been starting to fill up by the time he left. "Your friend's running a little late, isn't he?" he asked.
