Klavier briefly checked the hallway before walking through the door completely. The hall was empty and eerily quiet as usual. What he wouldn't give for even the slight assurance of distant passing cars, faint city buzz, anything but this stifling silence that seemed to eat at him every single night. He was suddenly aware of his clutching the pipe in his hand a bit too hard and loosened his grip.
...He shouldn't have gone off on his own. Yes, it was dangerous to wander on his own, but it would have been reassuring to at least have one other person around. In fact, if he were to start his search for information, it would have been ideal to have Kristoph here with him. But after yesterday... A sharp pang of pain hit his left temple just thinking about it. He didn't think he could... conceivably face his brother at the moment. And considering that he hadn't been contacted in any shape or form to meet tonight, it was a safe bet to assume Kristoph felt the same.
He exhaled slightly and moved down the hall, away from the patient rooms. By this point, he was just a hopeless case. Even after they had resolved this, there was no doubt his brother would mock him for the rest of his life for this....
