Ignoring anyone else in his way, Sho dashed up the steps two at a time, shovel ready to clear any obstacles in his path. Luckily, there was plenty of room, so it wasn't necessary, and the only time he checked if Haine was following was a quick glance as he hit the turnaround halfway up and went up the second flight.

Jason winced as he started up the stairs, knee protesting the change in movement. He didn't remember hitting it on anything but he must've at some point, maybe on the idiot's thick skull. That could break just about anything.
He wasn't sure where they should head when they got upstairs - he hadn't seen a whole lot of the second floor besides the closet and the kitchen. It would be worthwhile checking out what else was available but it was a pity he didn't have his map. While it didn't indicate what every single room was there was enough on it to give them a place to start. Unless Two-Face had one they'd just have to wing it tonight.

It already looked like the crowds were thinning out. The stairwell was empty, which made it a lot easier to just quickly head up. He didn't like cramped areas in this place (didn't like them much in general, actually), and so he was quick to stride past Jason and lead them up to the second floor.

When they reached the stairs, Anthy had an urge to climb them first, however unsafe that was. She was unsure of where they were and this entire place had an ominous atmosphere to it -- and Utena had been hurt in it. So she flashed the other girl a quick smile before shuffling ahead of her on the narrow path.
The element of surprise may work here, if 'Delilah' was anything like Himemiya. "Have you been upstairs before?"

"Um, sort of. It's hard to explain," Yomi answered, beginning to climb with Delilah. "'Utena' has been here before." Or at least she thought she had. She was pretty sure the real upper level of the institute looked nothing like what they were about to see; Yomi had never been upstairs during the day, after all. Still, she was pretty sure it would at least look the way it did in Utena's dreams, if she had any continuing say as a lucid dreamer.
They kept climbing. With the path up fading into the darkness above her flashlight beam, the stairway seemed endless. She had no idea why, but she felt like humming that one weird song Antony had played for her and Delilah once. Something about the Apocalypse and Sodom or something.

The sounds ricocheting from the surrounding hallway did nothing to deter him, though he would admit his pace slowed in the slightest. He was half expecting to be accosted by someone as he climbed the stairs, his steps losing their rhythm as he waited, but the thought was pushed aside the moment he stopped to reflect upon it.
Strange as the happenstance had been the last three nights, it wasn't going to happen again. He was working alone tonight and it was better that way. There was no one to slow him down with their questions, arguments, injuries, or mental dilemmas. It was just him, his drive, and the darkness of the institute.
All in all, it had only lasted about a second. The moment of hesitation ended and the assassin continued to climb further into the shadows.
