Even though it was her fourth night, Kaylee still didn't really understand the mechanics of Nightshift. She had yet to be attacked by any of the monsters that she'd heard about from other patients, and felt quite safe going alone

Jack waited until after the intercom and radio had both sounded before venturing out. He had a flashlight and the radio, but nothing else apparent. Maybe he ought to wander over to the girl's wing, just in case.
As it turned out, he didn't have to go that far. There she was, between the dorms or cells or whatever. There was something about her - maybe it was just her good cheer and her sense of determination - that made him smile and think on fond memories.
Better than the not fond ones.
"She walks in beauty, like the night... hey there, cowgirl." Jack grinned, thumbs hooked in his pants band. "Fancy meeting you here.
All thoughts of talking to Simon (or at least beating him upside the head until he apologized) instantly vanished from Kaylee's mind when she heard Jack's voice.
"What, quotin' poetry at me already?" she teased, flashing him a dazzling smile. "Ain't exactly the most romantic place in the 'Verse to court a girl." Here was someone who could make her forget about Simon altogether, at least for a little while. Plus, if she played her cards right...she might even get lucky tonight.
"Since when does poetry need a certain time and place?" Jack shrugged, eyes sparkling. She was something, alright. "All I need to be moved to verse is a beautiful woman. And... look at that, the requirements are met."
He stepped up to her and leaned against the corridor wall, as casual as though they were on a street or at some party somewhere. "You got any plans for the night, Cowgirl?"
"Who says flattery can't be true?" Well, well, well. Jack chuckled some and pursed his lips, looking Kaylee up and down. She was flirting, and she was flirting hard. Did he dare push it a little further? Talk about a thrill...
Why the hell not? He was a man, he had his needs. And needs that had been neglected far too long. Besides... well, hell, it could be fun.
"And what are these sudden plans of yours? If I'm allowed to ask."
Was Kaylee going to let this go further? Hell yes. It'd been so long...she needed release too, damn it, and the little "toy" she'd built herself never beat the real thing. Jack was definitely interested; the way he ran his eyes up and down her body, stopping at a few...key points, spoke volumes. He was nice and handsome and certainly understood her little cues, something that Simon wouldn't recognize if they hit him over the head and screamed LET'S HAVE SEX!
"No idea yet, but I'll be sure to let you know when I make them. Or do you wanna help?"
"Well if you don't have any idea, you don't really have plans, do you?" Jack raised his eyebrows. "Now, I've got some plans to meet with this guy I met earlier - we're breaking into the rooms on the second floor - but he's got some things he needs to take care of first. I'd like to invite you along. I'll be honest, I was heading over to the women's wing to see if I could find you. I like you, Kaylee. You're some kind of woman, no question about that."
And he had been, no sense in making a secret of it. "But like I said, he's got something to do first. So if you've got anything in mind for the meantime..."
He'd let her take things where she wanted, if she wanted to.
Kaylee's face fell a little when Jack mentioned his plans...but perked right up again as soon as he told her about the time he had. And that he liked her.
That was all the encouragement she needed. The mechanic pressed herself against his body and kissed him. Hard. After a few moments of exploring his mouth with her tongue, she pulled away and asked, almost shyly, "You want to?"
Well, that was that, wasn't it? Jack was almost surprised when she molded against him like that, but his body reacted far quicker than his mind could. Ah, the flesh. Humans were slaves to it, weren't they? What was it that had been said? Lust was the direct cause of suffering. But oh, was it sweet bliss while it lasted.
And so was she. So warm and alive and real against him. The other thing about lust? It didn't know guilt or shame.
"Want to what?" he asked, when she pulled away, his hands in her hair. "I'm giving you warning now, Cowgirl, don't start something you aren't ready to finish."
This was... well, it was an opportunity he just couldn't pass up.
Kaylee wanted this. She wanted it really, really badly. Even after pulling away from the kiss, she kept herself pressed against Jack. She wanted him...and she could tell, from the way his body was reacting, he wanted her too.
So they were both in the same place, then.
"Don't worry," she said huskily. "I want this. Bad." The mechanic pressed him back into the wall with another kiss. They really needed to find a less public place for all this, but Kaylee wasn't exactly thinking rationally at the moment.
Jack looked at her for a long moment, his expression suddenly serious as he did so. And then she was kissing him once more, and his body couldn't find the strength to push her away.
"We're going to find ourselves in the belly of a beast if we don't get out of here," he managed, turning his head and burying his face in her hair.
"'So beautifully her soul showing out radiant as an angel wandering in hell and the hell the selfsame streets I’d roamed in watching, watching for someone just like her and never dreaming the darkness and the mystery and eventuality of our meeting in eternity'." He muttered the quote against her neck, before gripping her around the waist and tossing her over his shoulder and slapping her playfully on the rump, the seriousness and strange sense of desperation in his voice gone in a moment.
Kaylee could only manage to nod a little. Ai ya. She usually had much more control than this, this early on...it really had been too long.
She let out a soft moan when Jack started to quote more strange but beautiful poetry against her neck. He was, hands-down, the most romantic man to woo her yet. And she liked that. She like that a lot.
The mechanic squawked when he hoisted her up, squirming away playfully. If she wasn't careful, she'd land flat on her ass. "Hey, hey! I ain't a sack of manure! Put me down!"
Hmm. Where should they go? "I'm in F9, but I got a roommate, and I don't want to put on a show. There's a ladies' room just inside the hallway..."
"You smell much nicer than a sack of manure," Jack said, swinging her down at her request. "Kiss a lot better than one, too." Ah yes, roommates.
That left the ladies' room. The only monsters that seemed to frequent restrooms were rats and roaches - easy enough to deal with if there were any around. And a restroom stall would be about as private as they could manage....
"Not an exhibitionist, huh? Then we'll away, sweet thing. Just show me where."
Before he started to think about how bad an idea this could very well be.

The mechanic also leaned up against the wall and replied, just as smoothly, "I do now." She gave him a sly grin.
