Kratos had merely nodded in response to Faize and Hitsugaya, wishing to quickly put the entire episode behind them. However, it seemed that their phantom follower was unwilling to let it go so soon; he realized that they had made a gross misjudgment of the monster's tenacity as soon as he saw the frost on the floor and heard the weeping increase.

Then came a piercing scream that shook Kratos to his core. Despite his best attempts to block it out, the despair and pain evident in the phantom's wail resonated with his ordeal the night before, and the swordsman paled as he recalled the memory of his own sword sinking into his chest and the harsh, ragged breaths of a self from a past time...

It was Hitsugaya's voice that had snapped him back to his senses, and Kratos had hardly needed further warning. He sprinted through the open door--Faize had been the one to act sensibly out of the two of them this time--and skidded to a stop in the kitchen, breathing heavily as he tried to regain his composure.

"We should...move swiftly," Kratos managed. Even though his voice was fairly even, his face was still white and drawn.

"Agreed," replied Hitsugaya while already moving towards the next door. This time it was unlocked, so the door swung open easily. With the enemy nipping at their heels, Hitsugaya didn't bother to scan the room beforehand and went straight in. At the very least, if there was an enemy inside it'd have to deal with him first.
