[from here]It looked like they were the first ones in the Sun Room this night. There weren't any monsters in plain sight, which was a good sign ( Read more... )

It was looking like smooth sailing to the Cafeteria, up until the silence in the room was broken by the sound of laughter. Anise whipped her head around, looking for the source but finding nothing but shadows around them. Finally, she spotted it.

"Above us!" she cried in alarm. Somebody was up on the railing, looking down at them. It didn't take long to figure out it had to be a special counseling patient. Right on time! Maybe the heavens were looking out for poor little Anise after all.

When the stranger began rambling, Anise had to wonder if he somehow knew more than he reasonably could have about them. Sheep led to the slaughter... That described their situation pretty accurately, even if he sounded kind of condescending as he said it.

But when his rant continued into what sounded like total nonsense, Anise's look of awe quickly melted into a more dubious expression. "Um. What's he talking about?" she asked, though she doubted Sync or Dahlia would know either. Anise had a feeling that the guy watching them was dangerous, but she also got the impression that he had a few screws loose. Maybe more than a few.

The God-General's head snapped up when the silence was broken with the sound of laughter, eyes narrowing into slits when he caught sight of the figure on the railing and the two dots glowing purple that accompanied it.

If this had been any other time then Sync would've scoffed at their opponent's gruesome description. However, he didn't have time to deal with this. The fact that he had yet to attack them was enough of an incentive to keep going, though he'd be damned to turn his back against his enemy like that.

Sync didn't say anything. He wasn't stupid like Anise. The last thing he needed was to provoke him and give him a reason to strike. Reaching out, Sync quickly took Anise's hand into his own and began to slowly tug her back along with Dahlia. His gaze was unwavering, staring up blankly at their opponent while the latter continued to ramble utter nonsense. Of course, the God-General couldn't help but wince when sparks of lightning flashed in the darkness, momentarily blinding him.

Sync continued walking backwards, taking a step at a time as to not make it too obvious. Hopefully the other two would get the hint and allow him to lead them out.

She'd admit, she jumped when that voice tore its way through the silence like it was a gun being cocked in the dark. Turns out she had nothing to worry about, though. Just a psychopath overhead spewing nonsense down at them.

Oh, were they trying this hard to scare her now? What was he trying to do, try to freak people out by saying really random stuff? Ha! Did he even know what he was doing at all?

Apparently not, because he just kept laughing at them at a... higher and higher pitch. It wasn't working on her, just making her head hurt. What a little brat. If he was going to stop them, he should do it instead of taunting them!

Hmph. The insane were so ridiculous.

Sync began to pull his princesses along with him and Dollie just let him do his thing. The sooner they got out of here, the less likely she was to throw a stone at the naughty little parrot up there. Here's hoping someone else would shut it up tonight!
