Night 44: M1-M10 Hallway

Oct 07, 2009 18:11

Oh gods, it was back. He was going to end up trying to eat someone. Junpei just knew it. last night he managed to avoid that by not leaving his room, mostly because he was waiting for Ryouji who never showed, but that didn't matter. What mattered was Junpei couldn't stay put in his room this night. He needed to blow off some steam. He needed ( Read more... )

Maybe he should have thought of some better way of saying that. The other guy looked really worried now. Either this guy sucked at holding back his emotions or Kanji sucked at explaining things in a good manner. Probably the second one. As for Blue's question, he wasn't sure how to really answer it since he wasn't all that sure himself.

"Uh, he... started actin' all weird during dinner. I figured he was just tired or somethin' but those hags marched in and took him off somewhere soon after. They didn't say nothin' about where but um..." He tried to remember what it was exactly that the people had said. "They said they were takin' him to some therapy thing. A session or somethin', right? They called it... Um. U... N... No, wait. M-U. That's it. Some therapy thing called 'M-U.' That's all they really said though before runnin' off."

Kanji had no idea what the hell an 'M-U' was supposed to be. Some stupid doctor nickname for something. It didn't really matter since whatever they were talking about was probably all lies or cover ups anyway, so what they said probably didn't mean anything. All that mattered was Haseo had been taken somewhere and Kanji didn't think he was being very helpful here. ...With how worried the blue guy had been looking, he sure hoped the guy wasn't going to panic or anything. Kanji was bad enough at talking to people without worrying about consoling anyone. What the hell do you even say in this kind of situation? There, there? Yeah, that'd really help.

Endrance's eyes widened in shock. He had almost been hoping that it was their brainwashing. While that wasn't ideal...it was at least something that there was a way to handle. "That's their code for patient experiments," he explained, a serious tone creeping into his voice - one that surprised even him. "I think they happen upstairs."

He looked at Kanji, nodding once. "Thank you for telling me...I think he had plans with a mutual friend of mine tonight. I'm going to try and find her and then we're going straight upstairs. May I ask a favor, though? The other night, Haseo had a sword made. I'd like to borrow that for the night, just in case..."

There was more thing he needed to do before that. "I'm sorry for...well. Not making the best first impression."

Patient experiments? Wait, was that what it sounded like? Kanji himself looked just as shocked as Endrance for a few moments. They pulled shit like that here?! What the hell was the matter with this place? So, what, they dragged Haseo up there just so they could screw around with him?

It was enough to get Kanji's blood boiling to think of anyone doing that to someone. This was so compltetely messed up! And if they're doing this now, they've done it before, probably more times than he could count. They could be doing it to... His face went pale for a moment and he felt light-headed all of a sudden. No, he wasn't even going to imagine that. She'd be fine. They'd get her out of wherever she was. At least Blue had an idea where they might have Haseo holed up so they could help the guy out before things got ugly. Hopefully he would find this other guy quick and they could run right up.

The sudden apology, however, caught Kanji off guard and he gave him a different kind of surprised look before quickly shaking it off to hide any embarrassment at having to recall what he was talking about. Guess that means this guy had been just as embarrassed by having someone there to see that as Kanji had been. Maybe he'd been kind of stupid by making a big deal about it.

He scratched one cheek with his thumb and feigned annoyance. "Er, no. I don't care. Don't worry about it. 'lright?" He stepped away from the door to allow Haseo's friend in and jerked his thumb at the closet on Haseo's end. "Pretty sure he keeps it stashed in there all the time. Prolly find it easy." He hesitated a moment. "Me an' my friends should be heading out back. We might go around lookin' for someone, too, but... Listen. Somethin' happens and you think you need extra people, come find me. Name's Kanji." He didn't want any more people getting hurt, and if Kaworu was right, they might have the 'released' people stashed together. Naoto and the others were hopefully able to watch out for each other if only for a little bit. He had to have faith that she could take care of herself until they got there...

"Thank you - and it's Endrance, by the way. I really appreciate that..." A moment later, he stepped inside, looking into the closet. There were two swords there, but he didn't take the newer-looking one. No, what he was looking for was the one that had seen some fighting already. It would have sounded crazy to explain it, but there was a part of Endrance that felt a little bit of Haseo's fighting spirit when he touched the handle of the sword. He nodded, acknowledging that, and took a few practice steps. It wasn't quite what he was used to wielding, but it would definitely work. He smiled, and then turned towards the door, stepping outside.

"Thank you again, Kanji-san," Endrance said, bowing his head slightly. "Be careful...and if you get in over your head, let the two of us know. I'll be more than happy to step in."

With a determined look on his face and one last nod, he stepped into the hallway and out.

Kanji wasn't used to being addressed so politely, what with the head-bowing and the thank yous and all that. It made him really uncomfortable. But he decided against commenting on any of it and let the guy leave to find this other friend and get Haseo. Hopefully, they'd get there in time. Kanji didn't know what he'd do if more shit kept happening to people.

Actually, he didn't know what any of them were going to do, period. How would they even be able to figure out where they were keeping the people they captured? He sure hoped his senpai would be able to think of something cause he sure as hell wasn't chock full of bright ideas.

Well, whatever. He didn't have the time to stand around here and worry about shit. He had to hurry up and meet the others as fast as possible. Sooner they all got moving, the better.
