As the intercom switched on, the shuffling of papers was the first thing that could be heard rather than the voice of the Head Doctor. It seemed he had been going through a lot of them today, a fact which could perhaps be attributed to the fact that so many new patients had flooded the halls of Landel's on this particular afternoon

"RC One-One-Three-Six," Darman said. "But it's fine with RC or Three-Six."
He measured up this Faust. He looked extremely thin, although it was difficult to tell if it was from a lack of nutrition or that was just typical for him - he looked thin enough that Darman could snap him in half if he so much as breathed wrong. Still, there was some kind of inner strength in him, appearances aside, and his fury over this missing "she" gave him second thoughts. He didn't doubt that he could overcome this roommate physically, but he wanted to at least find out who this "she" was and where his damn knives were.
Besides, better to gauge Faust's strengths and weaknesses before he kicked off a cellmate war that could result in someone with a knife between their ribs.
"Who's this 'she' you keep talking about?" Darman said. He closed his eyes as he had a bit of the 'trout'. It tasted glorious to a clone who wasn't used to food with any taste at all, although he had to doubt its nutritional worth.

"Really, Mr. Klaus," she chided him, setting the pillow back on his bed. Faust twitched again. "Now, you eat that and be good. And be nice to your new friend, okay?" With a bright smile, seemingly oblivious to the promise of a slow death coming from the thin pale man, she left.
Faust glared at the food, though when he spoke his voice was pitched to be much less harsh. "It's a pleasure to meet you RC One-One-Three-Six." He didn't even bat an eye over the strange name. In all his travels, faust had come to expect odd names.
"She?" Suddenly his whole demeanor changed. He seemed much more alive and less the painfully thin, angry man from before. "She is the most beautiful, kind, gentle angel to ever grace this or any other plane of existence. Her very being is light and music. Graceful and sweet as the wind off the cliffs of our home country. My beloved wife, Eliza." He paused and tilted his head to one side, eyes narrowing and chilling to a much lighter blue.
"But these people... this .... place..." He clenched a fist. "They took her away from me! She's always by my side and they TOOK her."
In this moment, one wouldn't doubt that Faust wasn't exactly the most stable of people... or safe.

The clone sighed. Great. So he'd ended up with one of the more mentally deficit prisoners as his cellmate. While he couldn't help but be fascinated (a little) by the idea of a human not being in command of all his facilities, as well as the idea of just what insanity was up close and personal, he hadn't counted on living with one such person.
Darman would have to probably keep a very close eye on his possessions, as well as on Faust. If anyone was going to wake up dead one morning, it certainly wasn't going to be him, if he could help it.
No hard feelings, of course, but he put his life before that of a nonclone and this Eliza of his.
"Did you just wake up here?" Darman said, changing the subject. He didn't quite feel comfortable about talking about one's loved females, especially since it reminded him of Etain. He had to wonder if she was even still alive. "I haven't seen you around before, but they've been bringing in new prisoners all the time recently."

"I did wake up here just a little while ago." He reached up to rub the back of his head, brining the tattoos around his arm into clearer view. Thick black bands, broken in certain spots by a large black dot circled his arm.
"I don't recall being brought here. The last thing I can remember was preparing myself for another Fight...." Now that he was able to focus on the problem at hand not that worry for Eliza ever left him he seemed much calmer and more rational.
"Do you know anything about this place?" He turned to look RC over.

The clone turned back to Faust, resting his arms on his knees and leaning forward, fixing black eyes on his new cellmate. He still didn't trust him, but he decided that he could search the room once the man left (if he even decided to). Darman was convinced he could find those two missing knives if he could just have enough time to give the cell a thorough check.
"I only know it seems to be some kind of bizarre Earthian prison," Darman said, shrugging. "During the nights they seem to experiment with us, such as letting out the prisoners from their cells and unleashing beasts on them. I don't think anyone has discovered a way out, but I heard someone say it was like a 'rat maze'."
That and the staff. Darman was sure they were probably experiments as well, maybe guards and scientists who had been discontent with the whole questionable morality of Landels...and had been "volunteered" for nightshift. Personally, he didn't care. They were enemies no matter what - it was just easier to kill them during the night than the day.

"I see..." He closed his eyes and nodded. "This makes much more sense now." Didn't mean he wasn't still FURIOUS, but he could at least work a bit harder keeping himself in the here and now. Losing himself to his anger would not bring him Eliza any faster; he'd learned that lesson the hard way in the past.
"It also makes sense that none have found a way out," he continued, mostly to himself. "After all, the rats don't find a way out of their maze without assistance from the ones watching them."
Despite his madness, his current focus showed the kind of man he had once been: a driven, intelligent doctor.
"What sorts of 'beasts'? Have you encountered any?" Faust was used to monsters, what Shaman wasn't, but it would be good to know ahead of time what he would be forced to face.
